OMG Dizziblonde....I am so behind on the thread I am furiously pressing back trying to catch up but you have had your baby? We were due the same day!!!

OMG I hope it wasn't too crazy and that it is all going well for you. Thank god you were so organised - I remember you were folding clothes in drawers before I had even moved house!!

OK don't think I am being too dramatic packing my bag today now!!

Yeah - the birth story ain't pretty (hospital were not nice people) - but it's a few pages back... basically my waters sprung a slow leak and I started pre-labour Easter Sunday, proper labour Easter Monday and when my waters finally went properly (they wouldn't examine me before then because of the infection risk) - they found I was 8cm dilated (on two chuffing paracetamol cos they'd left me waiting 3 1/2 hours for pain relief) and then she got stuck so I had forceps under spinal in surgery... poor hubby's scarred for life at the bucket of bits of placenta and swabs someone carried past him on the way out of the room!

She came at 33+6 weeks, 4lb 14 I think she was (just under 5lb - I'm crap with pounds and ounces) and so far she's been in the hospital 12 days... basically that's the edited version of it all!

Still haven't eaten that flipping Easter egg btw - was so rudely interrupted by this small little lady!

Awww Dizzi I am so sorry that is shocking but so happy for you she is doing okay. You should definitely write a complaint to the NHS once you are home etc.

Thank you so much for taking the time to summarise it for me as well but I just spent 2 episodes of Hollyoaks reading back to get the full story, I like having all the facts!!!

I am just so happy you are doing okay now and that you were somewhat prepared, wow she really did give you a shock I am sure x x x

    Part of the Furniture
i am just getting ready for a short trip to birmingham with OH, thinking of the extra pillows i will need to pack and if there will be enough food around for me to eat and lots of toilets hehe only staying over one night. i am a little bit worried about our holiday to brussells in may - i will be about 30 weeks then, we are going on eurostar and staying 4 nights, i pray baby stays in!

back sore again today, cant believe still have another 14 weeks to go. trying to get washing dry and avoid the showers.

met a pregnant woman the other day who is due 2 days after me and her belly was a lot bigger than mine, she said so herself. made me feel a bit better as i do get a lot of comments about being big.

looking forward to my mini trip to birmingham and only a 4 day work week next week :)

hope everyone is doing as well as they can be,

    Laura

Won a 0-6months summer weight Gro-bag on ebay the other day for £5 including delivery, bargain :) I still need to get some sheets and blankets as well though. Any ideas for where to buy nice but cheap cellular blankets? Was thinking about fleece blankets too - is there anything to stop me cutting up large blankets? They're about £3 in Ikea but the baby ones are about £10 in most shops!

I got a cellular blanket from Asda for £4 I think, but I found it very hard and relegated it to car blanket. The ones I like, also from Asda, are about the same price, in a plastic packet labelled as a shawl, but are a nice waffle type blanket. They're just right to fold double and use in the crib as two layers when they're small. I've not seen them in all stores though.

I have a fleece blanket from M&P using one of their gift cards, but have never used it as I worry about my toasty boy overheating. They do give away plenty of gift cards, I've had 3! And their sheets can be ok prices if on 3 for 2 and with the gift card.

Breast pads, I didn't get on with the TT ones, found the sticky on the Morrison's ones came off and stuck to me, and finally decided to stick with Asda. I think maybe it's a body shape/amount of leakage thing, and everyone will prefer different ones. I think the official advice is to change every feed, but I do mine when I need to. This varies from day to day depending on whether he changes feed amounts on me. :D
  • Hi everyone,

I have an announcement to make (yay),

Lisa has asked me to let you all know that the beautiful Katie Elizabeth arrived on Thursday afternoon at 3:38pm. She weighed 4lbs 7oz and arrived by emergency c-section.

Mummy and baby are fine, and just enjoying a nice stay in hospital to make sure everything is ok!

Oh and I went to visit today and Katie is stunning!!!!

I am not going to tell you any more as Lisa will want to divulge the detail herself I am sure.

Can I just ask that for those that are friends with us on facebook not to put anything as Lisa's facebook page seems not to have anything on and I wouldn't want their surprise tobe ruined on there!!! x x x x

    I will do!

Nice making her announcement for her, seeing as she made mine lol!

Can't believe what a little dot Katie is, and I thought Izzie was tiny! lol

Miss Happy - there was a Robin on my patio today looking in my patio doors, surely you should be too busy for stalking at the moment, and wasn't the flight a bit tireing when you need to be resting lol.

I had to leave my little girl today when I went to visit Lisa, was the first time and it was horrid walking out the door, left her with my sister, but it was just the oddest feeling ever!xxx x
