Apparently hubby's saying his sister's saying Kiddicare are opening a Nottingham store... can't find much about it online but if they are - might be useful for someone - we did the trip down to Peterborough when pushchair shopping and found it really really helpful in terms of getting some input on them all, getting to test drive and getting to have a go at folding/unfolding 'em all.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Good morning,
good luck to the boldies and labour vibes to those who want them.
I keep having weird dreams and waking up thinking my waters having broken - wishful thinking I'm guessing though in reality I'd rather not have a premmy.
dizzi, Kiddicare are opening a Nottingham store but it was only decided the beginning of March - they ran a competition to vote where the store would be. So I'm guessing it'll be awhile until they open. They've got a couple of other stores planned (can't remember where) but the Nottingham one is going to open first.
We also found Kiddicare to be great when choosing a pram (and a cot) for the same reason as you even though at the beginning I was a bit overwhelmed.
My friend posted a photo of the present she got from her work - it was a bouquet of 'flowers' made out of baby clothes and muslins. It looked fantastic
Saw the neurologist yesterday whose main comments about labour were not to let it go on more than 8-12 hours and I should be monitored for pain, stress and exhaustion. But that baby should be fine and the likelihood of having a seizure during/after is about 1% so not much of an issueThough despite saying my pain needs to be carefully I'm running out of options so really hoping it's not too painful. Neurologist discounted the water pool and pethidine, and my other doctors have ruled out an epidural, and tens machines make me feel really weird. Diamorphine could be an option though neurology aren't too keen on that either. Gas and air is fine but only if I take deep breaths and breath slowly.
I'm quite good at coping with high pain levels if I know the cause so hopefully that'll help and at least there's a time-limit on how long they'll let me stay in established labour. Though I'd rather not have a c-section, had surgery in my abdomen before and it takes me ages before I can walk properly without hurting too much.
Have been told to get my bags ready 'just in case' which still feels a bit early - got 7 weeks left but I guess it's better to make sure we have everything.
Does anyone have any recommendations for breast pads?
Also as baby is going to be in a moses basket for awhile has anyone bought a mobile or projector which can be used with the basket?
Hope everyone has a good day and some of you have mummy cuddles soon.0 -
Mrs Manda - Breast Pads I loved the Tommee Tippee pads, and I tried loads and loads, found these the best all round. Avent and Tesco weren't as good, Boots own brand were alright too.
R.e the mobile or projector, to start with baby won't really watch anything like that, I've only found the past few weeks Aaron taking notice of things like his mobile etc. Most of the time baby will just drift of to sleep either in your arms or if you're really good you'l time it well just to put him in the basket and he'l go to sleep almost instantly, not that I've mastered that yetThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Hi all,
Just wanted to say thank you so much for all your best wishes and support - it really does mean so much to me.
I've really worked hard getting everything ready today. Couldn't have done it without my mum and dad though - they have just been the best. Everything is set up now and I can go into hospital happy that we're ready for the new arrival.
My husband and I went out for a relaxed meal earlier but I've found it a little hard at times since we got back. I keep telling myself we're both nervous and we always react differently so we're bound not to be quite ourselves. Just hope hope hope it goes ok tomorrow.
I'll be back on when I can - thank you again all of you and I hope to be back very soon with happy news. Hope all mummies-to-be and bumps stay well in the mean time and my thoughts are with those who'll hopefully be getting baby cuddles over the weekend too.

Good luck Natwesty!0 -
hi everyone, and especially good luck to natwesty!
(I'm prob too late but just in case!)
having a fairly relaxed day - dropped DH off at the train station first thing (he's off to a stag do), then went to tesco to buy a few bits (ended up buying loads!), then my mum popped round to look at how the loft conversion is going and had a cup of tea. And she helped me hang out my washing
Then I went up into the loft and measured up all the walls etc to amend the drawings to "as built" - to help me work out furniture configurations etc (i.e. will the cot fit next to the bed?!) Also I haven't 100% confirmed with the builder where I want the internal stud walls to go, so need to finalise that. Fun fun fun! Can't wait to start decorating
This afternoon I'm going to my heavily pregnant friend's house - she was hoping to have had the baby by now but she's still not quite 39 weeks so could potentially still have a little while to go.
My hips/pelvis are really sore and stiff this morning, feel like a right old woman
Lovely to hear from you happydays, hope you can remember your name todayI'm sure you're doing great, I do have a lot of admiration for you for just getting on with things, although you must take it easy when you can!!
Won a 0-6months summer weight Gro-bag on ebay the other day for £5 including delivery, bargainI still need to get some sheets and blankets as well though. Any ideas for where to buy nice but cheap cellular blankets? Was thinking about fleece blankets too - is there anything to stop me cutting up large blankets? They're about £3 in Ikea but the baby ones are about £10 in most shops!

No Emsbet, I think we are going to keep it as a surprise. I'm very impatient and am desperate to find out but at the same time I think it will spur me on during labour - thinking what is it! Plus the room and everything we have bought is all going to be neutral so that it's suitable for any others we may have down the line so if we found out we wouldn't go splurging on pink or blue anyway.
When it comes down to it though I may crumble!
Just ordered the moses basket, stand and bedding from the I Love My Bear range at Babies R Us. So cute! Also popped to Asda and got some sleepsuits in 3-6 and finally found some muslin cloths. The Baby Event had started too, so got a massive pot of talc for £1 and some little swimmers nappies which were £3 but used the £2 voucher from the Huggies starter pack so only paid £1. Have got another voucher for a Huggies starter pack but everywhere is sold out!0 -
Morning/afternoon all.
Hope everyone is well. Hugs to those who are feeling a bit achy.
Bellola we've also got the I love my bear bedding, we got the pushchair secondhand for a great price which then made me fall I love with the range. The cot mobile is gorgeous, we got ours on eBay. Good luck for Monday's scan.
MrsManda fingers crossed for a not very painful labour and a short one.
BB I saw reasonable bedding in tesco the other dy think sheets were £3something. They had blankets I think maybe they we're around £4, sorry can't remember, but remember thinking compared to others I'd seen they looked very reasonable.
About kiddicare, I think they have connection to Morrisons. When they had their baby event there was a link to a discount online with kiddicare. Although I think we'd just found out we were expecting so we didn't take advantage. My sister works for Morrisons so she's keeping an eye out if they do another promotion.
Gilly thank you for the advice about the breast pads, they're next on my list to stock up on. got some in mothercares 3for2 the other day. This is going to sound daft but roughly how many do people get through a day at first. I know it'll be different for everyone, but I'm thinking roughly so I can think how many to try and stockpile.
Had a very rough nights sleep, was still awake at 5am so I went nosing on the newborn thread. There were a couple of great posts with lots of tips of how to make things a bit easier. One I remember is someone (I can't remember who, sorry) who hangs carrier bags on the door to put rubbish/washing into to take it straight downstairs to put in the washing. She worded it much better so it sounded a really good idea. And someone from here recommended badedas bubble bath as it soothes the down below areas after birth, not sure it if aids healing too.
Has anyone heard of rubbing wheatgerm oil into the perineal area in the weeks before birth? Was looking to equipment etc for home birthing and I read it in a couple of places. Just wondered if anyone was doing it or had heard of it?
My hip has gone funny so am waiting for OH to get home. Already fell over once so not attempting the stairs! Am hobbling very unsteadily with a stick, proper granny look going on here. On the bright side I did wee before my hip popped so I should be good for a while lol :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a good afternoon :-) xxxx:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

MrsManda - I'd get your bags ready - let's put it this way - mine arrived at the end of the 7 weeks to go week! I'm so incredibly glad I was ridiculously OTT organised - popped home last night for a quick sanity break (before hammering the snot outta the credit card buying tiny baby sized clothes in Mothercare - you thought the newborn stuff was make you cry small size... now it looks huuuuuuuuugeeeee to me!) and it was a huge relief to look into the nursery and know it was all set up with literally only the moses basket to move and make up and pram to bring downstairs as the remaining jobs to do.
Thank God I went into this massive overdrive about week 28 trying to get everything sorted.
I'd like to suggest for the hospital bag list though - soft loo roll... there's a special circle of hell reserved for the comedian who put hard school loo roll on a ward with women with post-birth stitches!
Breast pads - I'm liking the Lanisoh ones in the purple box much better than the Tommy Tippee ones that I had an unused box of passed down to me.
Fingers crossed for us though - we may (depends on what consultant's on really) be out tomorrow. Nose tube came out last night so it's the battle to see if she's going to naturally wake for feeds and maintain the amounts required to gain weight - rather than her previous pattern of suck till you can't be bothered and the milk fairy will put the rest in your tummy for you... so last night was a looooooong night! Staff seem positive that even though she's slightly down on finishing most feeds she's going to be taking enough - but it depends very much on who does the ward rounds I think. It's pretty nice to be able to pick her up without a foot of plastic tube trailing behind her though (and tiny fingers managing to yank the wretched thing out endlessly).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Lansinoh breast pads are good too, but they never seem to be on offer anywhere, whereas TT normally are. I had quite bad leakage I'd say (was wearing them from 16 weeks!) but after having bubs I'd say I got through 5 or 6 sets a day ( I think?) Some use re-usables which may be more up your street? The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
