Happy, don't be too sexist, if it wasn't for us men then you wouldn't even be in the situation you now find yourself in...!
Oh, and yeah, I'll be on my phone during labour, I'm sure my wife'll be hating me for every second. Mind you, she'll have her mp3 player in so probably won't even notice me!
Good luck, hope you set a new record for 2nd stage labour, 4 minutes to beatHaving fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0 -
Oh, and for those who are trying to research prams, or anything else, introductory membership to Which? could be £3 for 3 months, according to the Mamas & Papas leaflet thing we got in the post.
If you call 0800 533 065, quote MAMAS, and do this before the end of April, you'll get access to 3 magazines and the full info on their website.
*and no, I'm not in any way affiliated to either M&P or Which?, we just received the voucher and thought it might be useful for anyone/someone on here...Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0 -

Ooh how exciting! Happy's having a baby! Hope everything goes smoothly for you Happy.:j
Hugs for emsbet - will be thinking of you today. As for the rash -I noticed I've had a rash on my tummy/ribs recently - it's not itchy or sore - I think it may be either friction from clothes for me or a slight heat rash. Could it be that your trousers are rubbing? It says in my baby book that it's quite common to have more sensitive skin during pregnancy.
Well first day of daytime babysitting today seems to be going ok. One child is playing cricket this avo so he will be picked up in just under 1hour and after lunch I'm taking the other child to the tennis club with her friend. Plus I've got full use of their I-pad at the moment.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
Thanks again everyone for the kind words.
I called the community midwives and they put me through to the EPU who then told me to make an appointment with my GP. They didn't have any appointments so they got the duty doctor to call me. When I spoke to her she Ssaid she wanted me to go in so she could check it out. So I rearranged my job centre appointment (now Thursday afternoon) and went straight down there. I was only in the 2 minutes. She said it looks like dermatitis and gave me a prescription for Hydrocortisone cream and told me to go back if it got worse.
Like a numpty I read the leaflet that came with it and says there is a very small risk of abnormalities in the baby. I've googled (bad I know) and there are mixed messages as to whether or not it's safe. The doctor said it has a very low absorption rate so is fine but I'm still unsure....

Remember that the GP will have access to your notes, will know that you're pregnant and that you're not wanting to put the unborn baby in any harm (no sane mum-to-be would anyway, but still). Therefore, they wouldn't knowingly prescribe you something which would put the baby in danger. Short courses, small areas, you'll be fine. You should see my wife, her hands have turned to sandpaper, but plain moisturizer and cotton gloves and it seems to be ok. (we both have history of skin issues in both families)
And emsbet, a quick google on sites like netdoctor, amongst others, generally say the following:
Eczema, dermatitis and skin allergies
- Moisturisers or soothing products such as calamine lotion should be your first port of call as these are completely safe.
- Steroid creams such as hydrocortisone can be used during pregnancy, but avoid using them on large areas of skin, for long periods of time, or under dressings, as significant amounts may be absorbed into the bloodstream.
PS check your bed, pillows, or any clothes, could be that you're tossing and turning so much unconsciously, that you're scratching yourself on something in the bed.Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0 -
Emsbet - I have used hydrocortisone whilst pregnant as I have bad eczema. I was told as long as it's only a thin layer and it's not over used then it is absolutely fine. I got some aqueous cream with calomine in aswell to use as a moisturiser and that helped in between the hydrocortisone.DS1 born June 2000

Yes it is and I have no idea what to do with myself!
Been for a walk with the dog, finally found the manual and got the instructions to prise the soap drawer of the washing machine off to clean it (turns out it just needed some welly but we'd been scared to break it!) and done some food shopping, will probably just hang around on here for the rest of the day and await baby news!
And a few weeks ago I was 42nd on the list, how did I get to 11th?:rotfl:0 -
Busy here today! Good luck, Happy! And hugs to Emsbet...
Well, OH is back at work, so after he left I went back to bed and didn't get up till 10am. First time since finishing work! Then I decided to get some breakfast, and just as I was finishing my bagel with honey one of the cleaning companies called and asked if it would be ok to come for a visit as he was in the area. So, he came few minutes later and we had a chat for about half an hour, and I liked what he was saying and how the were working. I think I might be going with them. And they can start this week! And as a special offer, they do double time on the first one for the 'Spring clean', so house is cleaned thoroughly and then it is easier for the following cleans and would make me feel so much happier.... S, it would be £36 for 3 man hours, either two people in half the time or one person for the full three hours. I am so silly, I am getting more excited about the prospect of someone cleaning my house than Easter or Christmas!
Then I got online and sorted some things - ordered cat food and litter, baby monitor, room thermometer, a book that OH wanted about growing children, got the price of hotel for the wedding next weekend down by £30 (we booked online, as the room price was the same, plus £15!!! per person for breakfast, just the bride never said that her price included breakfast as well!, so called the hotel today and got a cheaper price).
Now need to get my sweet peas sown into pots after they have been soaking for two days!! Hope they are still ok, as they are only supposed to soak overnight. And also need to sow some chillies for OH. Was going to go through one of my clothes cupboards tosee what I can throw away or take to the charity, and then take the stuff away and his suit to dry cleaners, but not sure which will come first today.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
