Glad flynn is doing better Emmy.
Yes with hindsight I'd have never given them a date I would have just said the end of April. The thing is, this 'friend' was on my list as a possible birthing partner so she is getting immediately scrubbed off cos otherwise I might get the anaesthetist to knock her out for the duration. If I took more than 5 minutes to push she would probably hand me a scrubbing brush. Some people are just whack!!!!DS1 born June 2000

This is great as I am acutally scared about going on maternity and being bored! As I am going off at 31/32 weeks. So only 6-7 to go. Scary!! Thankfully will be summer some plan to do lots in garden too.
I have a list - im at work at moment - so will read it later and add some more ideas!musuemworker - here are some ideas to keep you occupied, things I have done when I was signed off with SPD or things that I have got on my maternity leave list of things to do (my name is triangle and I am addicted to lists):- List (!) of everything needed to buy/beg/borrow/steal
- Indulge in a DVD box set. I spent £15 on 'Teachers' (on channel 4 a few years ago) Very enjoyable and I'm not even half way thru yet
- Re-read books by favourite author
- Puzzle books
- Light gardening stuff (weather permitting) I also plan to build a simple outdoor pen for my tortoise
- Sorting out baby's room (no heavy lifting/heavy duty work though)
- For when nesting properly kicks in - a good clean out of kitchen cupboards
- Catching up with friends haven't seen in a while
- Overview of finances, making sure everything up to date and getting best deals
- Knitting
- Eating. A lot. Obviously

Emsbet please alter my EDD on the list.
Happy, in my experience subtle seems to confuse people. They do not always get the message and seem to misunderstand it to mean "they can't possibly not want me to bombard you with texts/phone calls/emails" Nah blunt is the way forward!!!
I'm getting fed up of being asked "was it planned?" seriously if you know me I can barely plan what to make for tea let alone this. That may be appearing on facebook in the VERY near future!!!:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Mini rant overwith
Safe and phunkles at least you have an idea of when you will get cuddles

can i pick the brains of those who found out if you are having boy/girl ?
Did you tell everyone what you were having ? if you didnt did you tell them you knew but werent telling or did you say you hadnt found out ?
We know this one is a boy but its the first time we found out so not sure how to handle it ! ive told my mum (and im guessing she told dad) but my best friend asked and I told her we knew but wouldnt share as we werent 100% - she replied "i really hope its a girl I have a ton of clothes you can have and your family will be complete" I know she meant well but I have 2 boys already who I adore and we lost a girl last year - to wish for either sex felt wrong but i know everyone will be making similar or worse comments about disappointment with a boy.
how can I handle it without seeming defensive ?

ps,
anyone else watching OBEM ?Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
Hi Mishka, it's a tricky one isn't it. I was adamant I could find out and just share the news with my DS but then it made me feel as if i was asking him to lie people. I'm not sure how old your boys are so don't know if you will be telling them they will be getting a new brother.
I got the odd silly remark about how disappointed was I that I wasn't getting one of each and I just replied that I couldn't give a monkeys what my child was as long as it was healthy. I know it sounds a cliche but it really is the truth.
It's difficult to keep it to yourself because if people are going to offer you stuff that you know you will probably never use you could end up with a lot of annoyingly awkward conversations down the line. Or worse still a hoard odd clothes etc that you wont need.
At the end of the day you just need to do what you feel comfortable with. I still say to people 'well they tell me it's a boy cos im aware these things are never 100%.
I don't think I'm explaining myself very well but I'm trying!!!
Taping OBEM and gonna watch in a bit when I've got some peace from my teenager in training!!!!

Ok, we have OBEM on record, but it would explain why this forum's gone quiet all of a sudden...
At least I now know that it's not my fault that this forum motors through 5 pages per day. I've not been on much and you've all managed to write more than I ever imagined in such a short space of time.
Anyway, as for boy/girl/finding debate. We didn't want to know, so it made it easier. But in any event, I'd be tempted to tell people that I don't know. I mean, the hospital can only guess with a certain amount of accuracy, but they can't be sure. And what if they've got it wrong? You can use the guide for planning the colour scheme, but any further than that might not be a good idea, just in case it's wrong...
Tonight, we've had a big dilemma answered. Re-usable vs disposable nappies. In Tesco tonight, I saw TotBots for £3.75 each. So I bought 4 which should be a good start, will complement the disposables. I'll try to get a few more in the next week, at that price.
Oh, and we're in NW London, maybe I'll be able to encourage my DW across to a southerners gathering, if it happens. Surely we can't let the northerners have a gathering without organising a rival event. Wouldn't it be great if we can get two events on the same day, one in the north and one in the south?
And finally, since when did I agree that we could move up the list???Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0
