Congrats Sammie on the birth of your son Noah, nice name!! Hope you both are doing well xx :j:j Look fwd to reading you birth story.

Hugs Happy, I hope you are feeling a little better now. I know things can be scary but just think of it this way, you will have your little one soon :o

:jLittle_miss_moneysaver and emsbet for being 15 weeks today.

going to be 37 weeks tomorrow  I do this every week but i can't help but feel :eek::eek::eek: at the thought of being a mum. I have no idea what i'm doing... Pregnancy has gone so quick, but can't wait to meet my little madam and even though pregnancy is not really my thing (i cant beleive i'm saying this) i think I will miss her wriggling about inside me and kicking my ribs :o

hope you are feeling ok lovecrafting, colds are the worst thing to get during this time, I had one at 12 weeks and it knocked me for six... I'm so glad i haven't had anything since. I found some freshly grated ginger in some boiled water with honey helped to soothe some of the symptoms.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,
thanks for your kind words, I'm feeling ok this morning though haven't a clue how long that'll last - hopefully long enough to get my essay mostly written and get to tesco and back.

Glad the scan went OK Lovecrafting, congratulations to those who have had babies :)

Hugs to Dinah, I'm sorry you're still feeling rough and you were made to feel bad about calling the maternity unit. I hope it was just a midwife having a particularly bad day rather than them being intentionally rude and dismissive. Really hope you don't let them put you off contacting them again if you're worried.

I was fortunate on Monday that the department was generally reassuring though before I left I had a midwife telling me I shouldn't have bothered them and should've gone to A&E.
She clearly had not read my notes, or if she had she hadn't understood or dismissed the comments as they clearly state that if I have convulsions/seizures I need to go to the maternity unit to get baby checked and there's no point in going to A&E because the seizures themselves I can easily deal with at home.

My OH was amazed at not only the ignorance of the midwife (the fact that she believed even someone with a long term condition was incapable of dealing with it without having to run to A&E) but also that she was ignorant of the fact that there were things she didn't know. - She tried arguing with me that I was wrong and I couldn't possibly deal with my epilepsy without needing a medical team and A&E.

Anyway, minor rant over. Really hope there's not a next time Dinah but if you are worried again please don't be put off contacting the unit again. It may help to start the conversation along the lines of 'my obstetrician asked me to measure my BP at home and contact the unit if it went above X/Y so I'm calling because it's X/Y.' At least then you're letting them know immediately that you're not unduly worrying but acting under orders from your obstetrician.

    Hi all

Hope you are all well :) not been online for a few days, been mad busy with son, step daughter, college, homelife, etc, you know the score!!

Got my exam at college tomorrow night so been busy revising. 8 days to go and counting. I have severely swollen hands, arms, legs, feet, face and the midwife said even the bottom bit of my tummy is swollen with water retention - i said it was just fat, she said not lol. My hands were that bad yesterday i could not clench my fists or drive, she tested blood pressure which has been really low but is now high, not very high but very high for me, so need to be monitored.

Not read back everything but from what i remember -

happy - hope you are feeling a bit brighter today, and the heartburn has eased.

sammie - congrats on baby Noah - love the name, was one of my faves but OH will not entertain the idea....

good luck today lovecrafting. glad fluid not too low to warrant evicition.

dinah - hope you get sorted.

mrs manda, glad you are ok today.

yay for emsbet and whoever else is 15 weeks, it will soon be your turn :)

goppers, i think every week that it is just flying by, wow, i am due a week tomorrow, you always think you have loads of time but now i am actually beginning to panic!!

Have a wonderful wednesday everyone :)

Thanks hon. That's actually almost word for word what I did say, but she didn't seem to believe me! Just back from the GP, she wasn't bothered that it's peaking at /125, as it will go down to /95 sometimes during the day too... she said I'll be fine until Monday when I see the consultant. I'll still keep an eye on it this afternoon, and if it goes high again I'll go down to the hospital.

    Morning everyone.

Quick question: when should I get fitted for a nursing bra? I'm 26 weeks and perfectly comfy in bra tops (I hate bras with a vengeance) but thought it might be worth getting some proper nursing bras for after the birth. I'm guessing my boobs will get bigger though so want to know when I should be looking at getting fitted? Ta.

    Congratulations sammie

With the nursing bras thing I think it's leave it as late as possible as the general rule - although there ARE limits as to how close to my due date I'm going to be inclined to waddle down to the shops, and don't overbuy in case you further expand after the birth.

Good afternoon ladies. Haven't had a chance to read back cos im on my phone and it takes forever but I will do later.
I managed to fall asleep about 4am and was then up at 6 getting little man ready for school. I feel like crap today and got so panicky last night I thought i was going to have to call my dad to come and sit with me. I must have eventually bored myself and fell asleep.
Midwife was the horrible one this morning but she was actually not too bad today. I explained how I had been feeling and she was very reassuring and put my mind at rest a bit. Maybe I should stop calling her the evil midwife now. BP and urine were fine. I'm still measuring big but I think that's just cos I'm a fat sod. Just got another appt at 38 weeks which is 3rd April so I'm going to just take it one day at a time and try to put these worries to the back of my mind.
Right, I'll go and read back in a bit.
