Hey ladies, is it right that SMP is increasing to £135.45 from April? If so I guess that means we will all get a little more?? :0)0

c) whilst watching tv last night, I felt the baby moving for the first time, from the outside. I mean, my wife's been saying she can feel things for a while, but I've never actually been able to feel anything.
So, it really is happening
Amazing isn't it! How many weeks along is your wife? BTW, nice to see a man on here0 -

Hi ladies, I'm busy enjoying the first of my 4 days off. I say days off but I actually end up doing more than when I'm at work! this morning I've been hoovering, steam mopping the floors, rearranging the nappy stash and washing. Oh and a trip to the butchers. I'm pooped now lol!!A few questions for you all.. We're moved furniture around in the bedroom to make room for the baby and i have now got a crib on my side of the bed, it's a fair sized crib - same as this but pine. Am i being unreasonable in hoping she'd be able to sleep in the crib by my bedside until 6 months ish? (now the really silly questions are coming) she won't be able to err... climb out at that stage will she? it's quite a high crib. We' moving house soon (before 6 months) and at the moment there's no room for the big cot bed in our bedroom. If i plan to continue BF past 6 months will i need to keep her in the bedroom or would she be okay in her own room?
How long she'll fit in the crib will depend on how big she is and how quick she grows. i know someone who has 2 children, one fited the moses basket for about 6 or 8 weeks, the other for about 6 months! I'd say you'll be fine breastfeeding with her in her own room, it just means you have to go fetch her, but no different to if you were giving her bottles and she was in her own room. My baby will be in its own room once it out grows the moses basket as there's no room for a cot in our room.Happydays,I get the "oh, you don't look like you only have 4 weeks left, you are tiny!!"
If I had a pound for everytime anyone said that to me... grrrr:mad:happydays77 wrote: »Is anybody else constipated?
I've always suffered badly from constipation, I have an underactive thyroid and constipation is one of the symptoms (not that I'm suggesting you have that, just explaining why I suffer!). I've actually been better since being pregnant which is a bit wierd as I've been eating less fruit and veg and more bread.....which would usually mean I'd suffer even more! The one thing I find usually helps is sweetcorn!
We don't have any pets (well I have 2 horses but they're obviously not in the house!) but DH has already mentioned having rabbits once baby is big enough to appreciate them. I'll be pushing for 1 rabbit and 1 guinea pig though, I prefer guinea pigs and I have found that one of each get on better than 2 rabbits do.
I wish my baby did the sticking a hand or foot out thing! I'd love to feel or see a little mini hand or foot! I still find it weird when you all talk about feeling kicks in the ribs....despite being 34 weeks today I have still only felt movement higher than my belly button about 4 or 5 times......my baby is sooooooooo low!!!0 -
According to Mr google the statutory maternity pay increase is correct. I found this link:

I'll have to have a word with work as they are paying me mine in a lump sum and have calculated it on the old figure. It's almost £7 a week more so I'll be having words with them about that!0 -

Well, my wife hates technology, so I'm letting her do all the baby-growing, and I'm doing the research, the planning, the getting the house done (once she tells me what she'd like to do), and generally remaining calm and realistic while she gets freaked out by everything (including the rapidly growing stomach).
We're only a mere 24+5 so barely pregnant in comparison to some of you ladies. Due date is 3rd July and we don't know what we're getting, other than a nice bundle of joy (if all goes well). I haven't updated the master list with my info because it's too long already and I don't want to cut and re-paste just for me. (and if anyone updates it on our behalf then I won't mind, it'll just freak us out further by making it even more real as my name goes up the list!!!
As for cot in our bedroom, the age-old query. When we were at the baby show, a few people said that the baby should be in one room and one room only, until a routine is developed. Then they'll know that the room is theirs, and they will feel comfortable, and associate that room with sleeping. If they're always sleeping in the lounge or in the parents room then they'll have a hard time sleeping on their own, when they get to that stage. So what we've done is put a single bed for us in the spare room, where the cot and moses basket will be. That way, one of us can stay in there, with the baby - rather than the baby coming in with us. The advantage, we think, is that only one of us will wake up, and the other might get a better night's sleep. Maybe!Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0 -
Not really suffered too much with constipation so far - had a bit for the first few weeks til I stopped taking Pregnancy/folic acid pills at 14 weeks and have been fine ever since. My sister, however, swears by pears (poet and I didn't even know it!). Apparently, if you stew it and eat it, you only need a small amount and you'll be going in no time and they are much more effective than prunes.Overpay Mortgage by £9,100 in 2013 - £9,316.16/£9,100
