    I've been Money Tipped!

As for cot in our bedroom, the age-old query. When we were at the baby show, a few people said that the baby should be in one room and one room only, until a routine is developed. Then they'll know that the room is theirs, and they will feel comfortable, and associate that room with sleeping. If they're always sleeping in the lounge or in the parents room then they'll have a hard time sleeping on their own, when they get to that stage. So what we've done is put a single bed for us in the spare room, where the cot and moses basket will be. That way, one of us can stay in there, with the baby - rather than the baby coming in with us. The advantage, we think, is that only one of us will wake up, and the other might get a better night's sleep. Maybe!

Thanks, - that sounds like a rather good idea! Might have to suggest that one to DH and see what he thinks!

My SIL had her baby this morning at home, a little girl, 9lb 2oz with no pain relief. Had a silent birth apparently!

We were due the same day so just wish this little madam would get shifting although not tonight, daddy's got a gig.

Well, my wife hates technology, so I'm letting her do all the baby-growing, and I'm doing the research, the planning, the getting the house done (once she tells me what she'd like to do), and generally remaining calm and realistic while she gets freaked out by everything (including the rapidly growing stomach).

We're only a mere 24+5 so barely pregnant in comparison to some of you ladies. Due date is 3rd July and we don't know what we're getting, other than a nice bundle of joy (if all goes well). I haven't updated the master list with my info because it's too long already and I don't want to cut and re-paste just for me. (and if anyone updates it on our behalf then I won't mind, it'll just freak us out further by making it even more real as my name goes up the list!!!

Dont want to scare you even more but it will fly by!! I am now 34 + 2 and it only seems like yesterday we got our BFP :)

:j for the increase in smp, though I am sure we will loose out in other ways, such as the tax credits threshold.

Constipation - I am on iron tablets still so suffer quite often, though had a blood test yesterday to see if I can come off them so hopefully will be a thing of the past.

Have a nice big bonus coming from work in this months pay and am told that there will be another one at Christmas, which should be double the amount, even for me with missing half the year! I am really lucky to have such great employers :D Can treat me and OH to a couple of nice date nights before the baby arrives without panicing about money.

Anyone got any nice plans for the weekend? Hopefully some babies to report!

What kind of band is your OH in?
  • Hi all,

Back from 34 week midwife appointment.

Yet another new one, never seen the same one more than once!

She was really cross that consultant has said I won't go past 38 weeks as in her words "scans are not accurate enough to size a baby" and I was only measuring 34cm. But they all measure tummies differently, last week consultant measured me at 38cm.

I said I would rather be safe than sorry and she just tutted lots and said it wasn't necessary and even if I had to have a large baby, I should just get on with it lol.

BP was good, nothing in wee, and baby isn't back to back anymore (for the time being) but she is not engaged now - she was before lol, still head down though!

Oh well - bit confused now, midwife thinks I shouldn't have baby early, consultant does!!!!

From my experience Snoopy they all sing from a different hymn sheet and it does get very confusing. Mine told me I would have to be induced and then went back on his words when my next scan revealed babies growth had slowed down a little. It does baffle you and unnerve you somewhat but in the end I just decided to go with the flow because otherwise it would have driven me mad. I'm sorry you are getting all these mixed messages xx

How bloomin helpful of her, she sounds lovely!!! At the end of the day, consultants know more than the midwives and if they think you should have baby early then I would listen to them. I would think actually being able to see the baby to measure it would give a far more accurate indication than feeling your tummy, afterall, baby could be really tightly curled up or spreading their limbs out.
  • I'm sure someone will put you on the list whowants2brich. We wouldn't want you to feel left out!!! I bet you think we are all barking mad don't you?
Your wife is a very lucky lady as you seem to have everything under control.

I think I've freaked a few people out over the past few months. Including my wife! You see, most people expect that only the mum to be will know about her "dates", but when I shouted the answer to the docs at the beginning - while my wife was foraging in her handbag for her diary to check - I think a few people were scared that I knew the answer off by heart.:rotfl:

Soon after the IVF and BFP, a huge discharge got very scary, it wasn't blood and wasn't painful so I wasn't too worried but my wife was so she took herself to A&E. The best thing I could do, since she went without waiting for me to come and pick her up, was to google all her symptoms. Now, I won't stick up for everything on tinterweb, but on this occasion, I found quite a few pages which had more info than any guy would care to read (and most girls might not want to read all the info there either).

So, now I know where to go for info, guidance, calming down -and most of the time, when my wife now comes to me to ask "is that normal", I already know the answer.

I mean, how many OHs do you know who have a baby app on their phone, and know the average fetal length, heart rate, weight, and all the things that the midwife will ask in each appointment? :T
