Aww Sally, I guess with it being number 2 theres a chance things could all go ok, however would be like having a first i presume in terms of actually giving birth? How old is ur 1st born? I guess u needd to take alot into consideration. At least if u do have a planned csection, u can get all the help/support in place u`ll be needing to help look after u all. I desperatly dont want a section, 4 kids to look after, school runs and not being able to drive for 6 weeks = disaster here! Plus, we get a new car in March which i wouldnt even be able to drive which would be gutting! Of course if i/baby need one to happen then it will, and will deal with it all after. I hope u come to a desicion without too much stress. Btw, i am also a pessimist, anything better is a bonus that way ;)

DD2 is in bed asleep bless her, she hasnt eaten all day and has had just 1 small cup of lemonade and a smaller cup of squash :( can see 2moro not being much better tbh :/

Going to go for a nice hot Radox bath, just incase anything does happen tonight, not likely but hey ho! Hope everyone is ok xxx

Thanks Emmylou, DD was 3 in December so birth is quite a distant memory! The risk of my having another emergency c section is apparently the same a first pregnancy (and higher than someone who has previously given birth naturally). OH will be off work for around a month and my mum & in laws will be on hand too, so recovery wouldn't be totally impossible if I did have another section. I don't drive at the moment, so that's not a decider for me!

We seem to both be leaning towards a natural birth at the moment but I just hope I won't end up feeling bitter about it!

Hope everyone is enjoying the last of the weekend and Lucy - good luck, hope things start moving soon!

We had echogenic bowel show up in our 20 week scan so just have to double check baby is doing ok. it can be a soft marker for cystic fibrosis, an infection or a chromosomal defect. We were tested for the first two and they came back clear but we declined the amnio for the last thing as there was a 1 in 100 chance of mc

Ah lovely bump! I will try and post one of mine soon, when I can find the cable for the camera!

Ugh, have had such a boring day, got a letter from Building Control saying that my plans for our loft conversion need loads of work, so I've been doing that nearly all day. My eyes and head are killing me (so this post won't be very long, lol!)

We did pop to Babies R Us to have another look at prams, specifically the Petite Star Kurvi and the Oyster. They didn't have the Kurvi (and apparently aren't going to be selling it anymore), and I didn't really like the Oyster (surprisingly, as loads of people seem to love it) - so it wasn't the most successful trip! The woman in the shop was really annoying as well, kept interupting me and telling us what she thought we wanted to know, rather than actually listening to our questions! Grrrr.

Exciting, Lucy! Sounds like you won't have to wait much longer! :j

I think Feb 29th would be a cool birthday, personally :)

Bubs has been kicking the hell out of me today, can't believe how strong the kicks are sometimes, they almost hurt. So funny though watching my tummy move around, like Alien...!

Right, I must go. Hope you're all ok, and have had a nice day in the sunshine :)

    BB x

Her theory is that I'll be bending over a lot and chasing after my 3 year old constantly through this pregnancy. She's convinced I think that back to back is due to inactivity (which, to be fair, could certainly be true in my case!)

I think I am leaning towards a vbac but I know I'm being really pessimistic at the moment which won't necessarily help things go smoothly! Plus, according to the leaflet I was given yesterday, not only does the baby have to be constantly monitored which I don't mind, but apparently I have to be hooked up to a drip the whole time too, 'just in case' so feels like I'm getting punished for having an emergency section last time whichever way I go!

I know I'm just feeling sorry for myself and things could be a lot worse though

    Sally x

Hi Sally, I am also in the same situation having had an EMCS last time round. I initially, at the booking appt, requested a repeat section as the thought of going through labour again and ending up with a section anyway terrified me.

However, I have now totally changed my mind. I do not want a repeat section if it can be avoided. The only reasons I will want a repeat section are: placenta praevia, placenta acreta, breech baby or if I go 42 weeks. I have a repeat scan in about 10 days to check the placenta position as it was low at my 20 week scan. If it is in a risky position the decision will be taken out of my hands. If I go to 42 weeks I am not interested in induction given the increased risk of uterine rupture and an emergency section being required in those circumstances.

I have done a LOT of reading up on this over the last month or so. Constant monitoring is recommended for VBAC labours but it can be declined. They also do not like you to labour in water and want IV lines in place. This tethering to the bed would in mind be just setting myself up to fail so I am trying to aim for a home birth if the scan is ok. As I said, the interventions and monitoring can be refused as is our right but I do not want to have to fight with every shift change in the labour ward as that will not be condusive to an easy labour.

Just wanted to let you know that if you do decide on a VBAC, that you have the right to refuse any intervention that you do not want and you should read up on it as much as possible as there seems to be an awful lot of scaremongering perpetrated by obstetricians in particular (not all obstetricians) to scare women away from VBAC. Constant monitoring has been studied and has not been shown to be effective at improving outcomes of VBAC labours. NICE guidelines state that it should be offered but that is the key word, it should be offered and is not mandatory. Feel free to PM me for any other info. I have joined a couple of Yahoo groups specialising in this area of childbirth and there is a wealth of information out there. I believe wholeheartedly that had I known my rights the first time round, I would never had ended up with a section and wouldnt have to face these decisions this time round at all.
