Right, this is going to be a long one, so either scroll through, or maike yourself a cup of tea!
I don't know ladies how you do it: I am away for a week and have 25 pages to catch up! I am not even back home yet, but OH is out tonight with his friends here, so I am in his parents house, hiding in front of computer.
Good luck to all of those who need some, and welcome to the new names!
Congratulations Stacey on the birth of Alfie! I was sure there will be some announcements when I get back to the computer.
Svjenni - wow, triplets!!!! I am expecting twins, and find that takes a lot to get organised for, I can just imagine how much needs sorting out with the triplets!kelda_shelton wrote: »My cat IS my baby at the moment.. and I want to make sure he doesn't feel left out.. he sleeps at the end of our bed at the moment.. and is always jumping on my knee when its free.. that's getting harder and harder now though!!
Kelda - my cat is my baby as well... But instead of sleepingg at the end of the bed, he either sleeps curled up around my head on the pillow or next to me!Just noticed ginvt hasn't been posting. Hope she's ok x
Thanks, Lucy, I am fine. Tired every day, we are visiting in-laws, and all the friends with new babies, etc. So we try and squeeze a few visits in a day, and rarely back before 11pm! It was a quiet day today, actually, so we have been for a trip to Crema and Lodi, just a short walk around each town and a stop in the bar (coffee shop).
As for me, well, we had another scan here on Monday morning, courtesy of MIL, who organised one here at hospital, and I have to say, the doctor was fantastic! The scan took about 45 min (compared to about 15min back in the UK), she talked everything through with me, I could see all the time, she explained what measurements were being taken, etc. We got all the pictures and graphs for all the measurements (showing which percentile they are one), and surprise surprise - evne thought we are expecting twins, they were both on the 50th percentile!!!!! And even more - we actually know we are definitely having one boy and one girl! (And we have picture to prove that the boy is a boy!!!!) We had MIL with us, and I think she enjoyed seeing it all as well.
To celebrate this, on Monday afternoon we went to a baby shop, and finally saw Jane Twin Two pushchair. Loved the car seats/carrycot, the pushchair was nice, but only forward facing, we decided we needed to find a different shop that has both Jane and Baby Jogger City Select to compare them side by side. Anyway, ended up buying some outfits in that shop, as they had huge discounts, which meant prices were good, instead of 60 euros for a dress!!!! I think the most expensive item I have got was reduced to 9.50 euros from 47.50!!!!! Spent about 70 euros on 10 pieces, got a range of bits from newborn to 6 months, some just simple bodysuits that open all the way with the poppers, so no trying to put things through baby's head, some nice outfits. And today on our trip, I bought a few more bits for 6 months, as we came across a baby shop on the walk around the town... So, bought two more bodysuit kind of things, but soft and warm, sort of fleece, but nicer, a couple of the cutest t-shirts I have seen, and a pair of trousers for the boy... The last bit we bought as part of the present from OH's aunt and uncle, who were very kind to give us a gift for the babies in money.
We had a dinner with friends on the following night, and they suggested another shop nearby, which was fantastic, as they had Jane, Baby Jogger and Bugaboo Donkey in, so we could compare them all. Ok, clothes were seriously overpriced - I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a simple baby girl dress priced at 200 euros! Ok, back to pushchairs - we loved Jane, but it was much bulkier folded than baby jogger, bugaboo was wider in the twin mode, but other than that about the same. However, I think we are decided on Baby Jogger finally, as it is the easiest to fold, the seats go in many combinations, takes car seats and still fits through the doors! Allthough, I would love a baby jogger city select kind of pushchair with Jane Matrix light car seats - that would be my winner! Ok, I stop dreaming! In-laws decided to make us a gift as well, and gave a very generous amount for each baby, so it is up to us to decide what we want to do with the money. We have enough to sort everything out, so we don't need to use them to buy the pushchair/etc., but we were very surprised by their generosity.
I had my bloods redone here as well, thanks to MIL, and my iron has dropped even further. However, the Feritin (or however it is called in English) is within the limits, thanks to the iron tablets, but I need to keep an eye on things. I will definitely be asking for another blood test when I see consultant in 2 weeks. It has dropped from 9.7 begining of January to 9.0 now. MIL told to watch it doesn't fall much below 8. Will see. I hope I am doing ok withthe tablets and increased spinach/green veg consumption, as well as red meat, when I manage to convince OH, that it will not drop much further.
So, here we go! We are going back home on Sunday, and there is another day of activities planned for tomorrow - we have at least 3 visits, and possibly a dinner out with some more friends. I will need a holiday of this holiday, but it is not going to happen! I have 32 days at work left, if all goes well, but I am not sure I will manage to keep working until he end of March as planned - I am growing 'well', and my bump looks bigger to me every day. I am getting tired so easily and quickly, that any outing ends up with the trip to the bar for a drink and sit down time. I still can't feel babies kick, but the doctor here said it is still early, and especially so as I have anterior placentas for both of my babies. I can feel them move sometimes, by the feeling of increased pressure in the certain areas, but it is definitely not kicks. I think I may have felt a kick or two over the last week, but it is so rare, that I am not sure!
Oh, and my mum is being 'supportive' again. I sent her an email saying that I am having another scan here, etc, and she replied that she hoped that MIL will organise something like that because she doesn't trust doctors in the UK! Thanks, mum - that is exactly what a daughter pregnant with twins needs to hear from you!
Ok, I have warned you it is going to be long... I better stop now!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

So, everything has become harder in the last week. Just walking down the road is taking so much effort, not sure how i'm supposed to keep working till April. My legs, back and hips hurt and I cant get a good nights sleep. I actually feel pregnant! lol if that makes sense.
I read on one of the baby forums that I go to that its recommended that you have your hospital ready from 28 weeks if you are expecting twins. That's Monday for me  I'm absolutely bricking it and its all starting to feel more real. I haven't even bought half the stuff I need. I'm thinking of having two bags, one for them and one for me. What type of bags have you guys used? Is a holdall ok or is a small suitcase type thing better? That means I actually have to wash some of the baby grows and stuff . I'm thinking of packing enough stuff for one weeks stay and just hope that we are out earlier.
My stomach is making some amazing shapes and I can physically see them moving. But the fatigue is really starting to hit home. To all you boldies, I salute you, I don't know how you stay sane cos I'm already going mad with 8-12 weeks to go.0 -
Ginvzt - glad the scan went well and congratulations on team pink and team blue!!! :j
Emmylou - I have seen those jacket potatoes so may give one a go if you recommend them. Can you add cheese to them as I love cheese and coleslaw jackets!!
Went out tonight but never made it to the cinema!! Had a meal first then a massive pudding so we couldn't be bothered to sit through a film after that!! So now I'm in bed!! I feel like I'm 60 not 26 years sometimes!! I love the rock and roll lifestyle I lead!! Xxx:)DS1 10yrsDS2 7yrs :)DS3 born March 2012

Dashkii - I can't believe you are planning to work till April!!! I am 23 weeks on Monday, and I am not sure I will last till April - when I said I will finish work (taking all annual leave and starting maternity leave at 36 weeks). I also read about having the hospital bag ready at 28 weeks, and it is scary. I haven't even looked at what is needed yet. But I have got a light robe from Next sale that someone posted here - it is actually quite nice, and I have got matching pyjama with it as well, and I am wearing it all now!
We are probably going to book the TAMBA antenatal class in the end, if there are still places available, as I think you can't be prepared too much for the twins too come... I also have a hen's night in 3 weeks (just going there for the dinner) and then wedding end of April to go to, and I am not sure how I'll manage that! It is about 2 hours drive from home, so I will need to sort out hotel for both times (was offered by the bride to be put up with some of her relatives for her hen night, but I think I prefer getting a hotel room for myself, so I can leave the party when I feel tired and don't have to wait for someone else to take me home with them).
On a different note, OH now is asking me to organise the tradesmen to do the work in the future nursery, and we are starting the ball rolling next week. (Me trying to find someone to do the job) Still need to get him to agree to do another room downstairs, and the cloakroom, even if it is just changing the sink and loo and possibly repainting... (Changing sink, etc would be the job I do myself, but not with the double bump!)Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Have also posted this over on the n/b thread. Came across this today whilst researching baby sleep cycles, and i found it v interesting/useful. Thought i would share incase it helps any other new mummies (or daddies!)/to-be.
