  • Oh Snoopy what a day you have had. I've just had my growth scan as they were worried my baby was a giant. I am 29+6 today and mine is above the 90th centile on everything and thr BPD is even bigger. The estimated weight is 3.91lb. I am so scared cos they are talking about bringing me forward and a C section aswell and I really didn't want that. But obviously I will do what is best it's just a bit of a shock. Got another appt on Thursday with the consultant and he says we will make a plan of action then.
Do you have any more scans booked Snoopy?

I can't believe how similar our stories are - due at the same time and everything, same estimated weight too lol.

My consultant was so lovely, and told me I had the choice and if I didn't want the C-Section I didn't have to (unless an emergency), and that is why he is giving me the option of having her early, Ii think you will feel so much better after seeing him on Thursday Happy - I did.

Yes I need to have scans at least every 4 weeks, but prob every 2, but he will firm that up with me at the appointment nect Monday after keeping an eye on my sugar levels for a week, so they can get an idea how quickly she will grow. I already had a 36 week scan booked in, so might get 1, maybe 3 in there inbetween.

We got a scan picture today - it was too adorable not too - she is sucking her thumb in it lol, not very clear apart from that as all that could fit in the picture view is her head, she is clearly going to be chubby!!! lol x x

Snoopy Glad you've got a plan in place and you're feeling better.
Also, I'd echo what Gilly said about weights.

I was told at 37week scan my little man weighed 8lb 6oz, and at 40weeks he weighed 10lb 5oz.

He was on the 97/98th percentiles for everything.

He was actually born at 41 weeks and weighed 9lb 3oz so just goes to show how far out they can be.

With regards to wipes and nappies.
I love Huggies wipes, I find them much better than the Pampers ones which I find leave a sort of greasy residue but have had a fair few leaks with Huggies nappies, prefer Pampers nappies to those.

The huggies cotton wool sheets have been good too.

    Xx
  • Thanks Snoopy. All feels a bit too real now.
Desperately don't want a section as it's just me and my 11 yr old and don't want to have to rely on him and other family members. But I realise what will be will be and no amount of worrying is gonna change it.
It is crazy how similar we appear to be. 36 weeks was mentioned by my consultant and that would take me to the 20th March.

I know exactly what you mean by it all seeming too real now! lol - as if magically 4 weeks less is what makes all the difference lol, at least we won't be suffering as bad as the boldies at the moment who must think we are whining for no reason lol - sorry boldies!!! x x x

  • Hi Snoopy - Thanks for providing a detailed description of what to expect!! I wish my hosp/consultants were as forthcoming!!! All I know is that I have to attend a group meeting next on Fri where we will all learn how to monitor our blood sugar levels and we will have to monitor them for 2 weeks. I havent been told anything else, and dont know what happens after the 2 weeks!! I am already seeing a consultant due to previous large babies, and when he saw my GTT results he said that my blood sugar level was very low (2.3?) !! He didn't tell me anything else, or what I can expect after the 2 weeks of monitoring!! I can only assume that your GTT results made it apparent that you def have gestational diabetes, and maybe mine are borderline!! Either that or my consultant is rubbish!! Maybe they do things differently in diff parts of the country - I am in Surrey.

At least you know know what to expect for the next 7 weeks (am v.jealous - queue jumper!!) 7 weeks certainly sounds much better than 11 (as you can tell I am teeny weeny bit jealous!)

Emsbet - not sure if it's all sweetners your avoiding but Sainsburys only use natural ones (sucrolose) as opposed to artificial ones. Just wanted to say as I found artificial ones like aspartame sent me loopy (!!!) but I'm personally fine with the natural ones! x x

Loved reading your story Gillyx Love and hugs to you and your little man x x

Well I was just avoiding the ones that are potentially not safe in pregnancy but when I'm in the shop I can't remember which are which so I just stay clear :o

Quiet here tonight ladies. Hope the bodies are off having their babies :)

11 weeks will soon pass Amy! I realised today i can still vividly recall telling people i had 6 weeks to go and that birth was a long way off, but that was 3 weeks ago, i only have 3 weeks left and thats not that far at all!!!!!!!!!! Hope that makes sense anyway lol!

Anyone else have their dates put back at the dating scan??? I did, only by 4 days, but was put from a thurs to the monday, so have to wait an extra "week" every week lol. Drives me nuts, cant help thinking, by MY dates i`m 38 weeks this thurs.....hmm....

I have read back, but cant remember a thing :( brain is like mush, so hugs to those that needs them, labour vibes to those that want them, and any other wishes anyone else would like, u can have them too!!!!!!!!! Sorry lol!!

My Call the Midwife book came Saturday and i`ve read half of it already! Going to order the next one this week :)
