Congrats Gilly! Lovely name too.
Eeek and another new arrival, congratulations to baby James and iwanttogoonholiday.
Anomoly scan tomorrow, really nervous it will throw something up, but also excited to not only see our little one again but to find out what we're having. I can't even consider going to bed atm as I'm so jittery.
Ginvzt, I was getting bad heartburn for a few weeks, for me it was a case of nothing fizzy, no fruit juice, and I found protein or veggies (but not carby veggies like potatoes, carrots, parsnips etc) generally didn't give me heart burn. I was gutted as normally I live off fruit and had gotten quite used to a nearly solid toast diet through the first trimester, so was a bit scared to change in case I felt sick again.
I hear you about ebay, it drives me mad that buyers can just blatently email and say they've changed their mind and you have no recourse at all. My mum sold a bed on ebay last month, it finished at 9pm, the lady emailed at 11pm saying can I pick it up tomorrow. Mum replied on her lunchbreak the next day (so about 13 hours after the email) saying yes that's fine what time, and the lady said 'oh, well when you didn't reply I assumed you wouldn't sell me it, so we've gone and bought one in town this morning'!
I think your cake is fab emmylou, I'd be thrilled to have made that. For icing, my trick is not to touch it with your hands, the oils make it stretch and warp. Work with it between two layers of clingfilm if you can, then roll it over a pin and lay it over a cake. I have a cake polisher tool (only cost about £1) which looks like a miniature tool for plastering walls, and use that to smooth the sides, but I'm sure a palete knife could be used just as well to get smooth edges.
I heard the swallowing sperm thing was a prank, as it's all to do with some chemical in it softening the cervix and it has no way to get there from the tummy. I prefer to believe that it goes up than down iykwim, so I will!
BP was a little up at the midwife again today, 130/95, so I'm not too worried but hoping it's a blip rather than climbing again as I hate it when they up the tablets - I spend days half asleep or dizzy and it all makes it less likely I'll get to term.
It's my birthday tomorrow (1st) so for a pressie I'd really love some good birth announcements or pics of our latest arrivals please
On the location front - any other ladies Teesside/Darlington way?

Enjoy your first night at home!
I don't think anyone is, but if anyone else is in the Nottingham area then I'd be happy to meet up!(although having said that, I'm sure there's someone who's said they're somewhere around here but I can't remember who that is...)

Thanks Gilly! I know its going to be tough, especially at first, but after waiting for so many years for this day, I feel like my life has been on hold just waiting for this moment. And now we're ready to be a family! I haven't a clue what I'm doing haha, but thanks to these forums, I feel a hell of a lot more confident than I did 9mnths agoDFD February 2012
