hey guys,
had my 36 week appt today. I am measuring 34.5cm. The midwife said that this is perfectly fine and normal.
She did say that baby is head down but is very naughty and is back to back.
She advised me to go on all fours for 10 mins, 4 times a day. I just need to let my bump hang. This will hopefully encourage baby to move front to back.
She also said I should not slouch on the sofa but lean forward as much as possible and keep my knees lower than my hips.
Apart from that all is good so I am very grateful.
My replacement started at work today!! So now I have til Wednesday to train her up. She seems pretty good but was extremely daunted. I didn't realise how much I actually do at work - I'm actually quite clever! LOL!!0 -
aaargh !! I'm really confused now. I don't know how much I'll be getting when I go onto SMP. how do i find out!?
I thought it was £120 a week?!0 -
From what I've read and been told by HR etc it will be based on your wage for the week including 22nd June. Any annual bonus should be paid on top of your maternity pay.
Ah thats good. I earnan additional £600 a month in bonus (gross) so didn't want to lose out on that. Its paid in with my wage but is variable so I defeinitely didn't want to lose that.0 -
MrsExcited - follow the link I gave moneypuddle earlier. SMP is now £135.?? per week so it's a bit more than you were expecting hopefully but not much
And of course that's probably before tax and NI. 0 -

Ahh thats the scary bit - training someone else up to do your role. You dont want to do a bad job so they talk badly of you when you leave and your replacement struggles, but you also dont want to do so well at training them that they dont see a need to have you back espec if your replacement is paid less than you!0 -
Sorry moneypuddle I probably confused you more then in my post. Didn't realise that there were two different amounts depending on the weeks etc for SMP as I'm only entitled to SMA as I didn't earn enough in the qualifying period. Your HR department will be the best people to ask as to how much you'll get and when as it depends on your average income.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Getting seriously fed up of work now. I'm due on Thurs 4th Oct. Is there an earliest date I could start maternity leave (not including holiday etc) and a latest date I would need to start by? My boss is absolutely clueless and just shrugs whenever I ask her about dates etc
How long is everyone planning to be off for? I want to win the lottery (not a lot, even just a couple of thousand would change our lives at the minute!)
I would advise not to go too early though because you'll probably get really bored! I am a bit bored to be honest and I've been off nearly 2 weeks now and I'm not due for about 2 weeks! But then you never know when baby will come. I think it's a good idea to finish 4 weeks before due date just in case baby decides to come early. I didn't want to be in the position of worrying if my waters would break at work! You can always save up some holiday and take that first – my first week off was holiday, my mat. leave started this week.
Also, depending on how generous your company is (and they aren't all that generous) another reason not to go too early is that you only get full pay (or 90%, depending on the terms of your contract/how long you've been at the company – check with your HR dept) for a short time, then you get very little after that. I've been told my company is quite generous with the maternity pay, and as I've been there over 6 years, this is what I get:
The first 13 weeks at full pay
The next 5 weeks at half pay
21 weeks' statutory maternity pay = £135.45
Then the last 3 months = nothing.
This is why I'm considering going back to work after 9 months. 3 months is a long time to go with no pay! You may want to think about it and have a chat with your HR department. If they're of any use they should be able to tell you what you're entitled to and give you advice.
Hope that helps!
My maternity cover (prefer not to think of her as my 'replacement'!) starts on Monday. Weird to think of her sitting in my chair, using my computer, using my stuff! I only had half a day with her before I left and I was exhausted after that, trying to explain everything ...0 -
