Littlemissgiggle I can't remember who, but someone did refuse induction and went into labour at 43 weeks with no ill effects. They can't force you to do anything. I think she came to a deal if baby wasn't here by X time then she would be induced. Maybe go to the birth stories or newborn thread and look there. It was on here I'm sure I read it
Emsbet glad they're being done todayand you were worrying about the hoovering! It always amazes me the nastiness of the water after cleaning, even if you Hoover every day. I've decided to get my sewing machine so I can play over the weekend
Mishka so glad everything went well at the scan and they explained everythingmust be a big relief
Right I'd better get dressed and go out, laters x:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

I had a sweep with my dirt. I hated it it was sooooo painful. They never offered me a second one. Then it was one on your due date then induction ten days later. Personally I would rather get baby out by 42 cos I have read about the dangers of them being in too long but I I'm offered this time I won't be having a sweeplove you lots like jelly tots0

Thanks guys
Rups, it was a 28 week growth scan,
I had sweeps with my boys and it all depends on who does it, some just fudge about and make a meal of it and others seem to be much more gentle,
None of them worked though and Ive rarely read of anyone else going into labour straight after so im not sure why they are so keen on doing them, its not pleasant for either party involved :rotfl:Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
So pleased to hear your scan went well mishka - that must be such a weight off your mind.
Sorry to hear that Muffin isn't here yet fluffnutter - maybe she wants to arrive on my birthday (1st July).
Midwife appointment went well this morning, although baby brain meant that I forgot to tell her about the back pain and the weird bruised feeling that I've got at he bottom of my left ribs. Bump is measuring 28.5cm at 27w+5, so hope he's not going to be a giant! Midwife said that the measurement is perfectly normal as they allow 2cm either way. BP is good, and I was weighed (71.8kg -I've put on 6kg since my booking in appointment - off to google if this is normal, although midwife said it was). I also escaped blood tests, as I'm going to have a GTT on Wednesday, so they can do all of the tests at the same time at the hospital (quite pleased as the hospital didn't hurt me last time, but midwife did). Have to buy some lucozade now, so added it to the shopping list. Bean's heartbeat was 150bpm, and she thinks he's head down. He did a few kicks whilst she had the doppler on him, so had obviously been saving them up to give her a good show this morning. lol
Saw some cute babygrows in Next today - haven't been in there to look at baby cloths yet as I'd heard they were expensive, so going to keep an eye out in case this set goes in the sale. The colours look slightly different online.
Hopefully we're going to ask MIL if she can come with us to order the pram from John Lewis today when she gets back from her food shopping. I've got to print out all of the details as I've found a website that sells it cheaper so I'm hoping they'll price match. Not sure how their policy all works though.
Hugs for all who need or want them,

Mishka so pleased that the scan all went well, yay!:j
Student_mrs I'm just over 29 weeks; I had planned to stop at the end of June as OH has alwasy been a bit concerned about me carrying on with my teaching! my energy is fine, but I just can't do some moves justice anymore! Will still practise it in the comfort of my own home though!
Aida everyone is different when it comes to exercise and I am sure you will receive lots of diff info! best bet is to talk to your midwife cos without knowing how much you already exercise and what your current fitness level is I wouldn't dare advise you! general rule of thumb is that if you haven't done a particular class or activity before then you shouldn't start something new when you are pregnant. if it's something you've been doing for a while you should be okay to carry on, BUT your ligaments stretch and get looser as your pregnancy progress so you do need to be careful. personally, i wouldn't recommend spin classes as they can be intense and very hot - you musn't overheat in pregnancy! Cycling in itself should be okay though, and walking is great as is swimming.
LMM we're being very ambitious with all the stuff we've got to get done in the house! We've had the kitchen replaced, we have the plasterer booked to do the whole of downstairs and the landing week after next, then the gas people are in to fit central heating, after that we are putting down new wooden flooring throughout downstairs + fixing new skirting, then the decorator will be in to paint all of downstairs and the landing! Then we need to install new shelves and downstairs will be done! In the meantime i am clearing out both spare rooms, OH has to put in loft flooring this weekend (he's been promising for weeks) and then we can see about painting the nursery! :rotfl:i am determined it will all get done one way or another!0 -
Glad your scan went well Mishka, mines 2 weeks today and I'm nervous too, hope its as straightforward as yours was
Emsbet glad your getting your carpets sorted, i wish i had an excuse not to vac lol
I can't remember who else I was gonna reply to currently upstairs avoiding OH after losing my temper with him for being ungrateful. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

LittleMissGiggle - I've not got any advice unfortunately but are your dates accurate (i.e. do you know how far along you actually are rather than the date they said you were?). I'm 4 days different on 'my' dates to the ones they gave me post dating scan so I would hold off until 42 weeks by 'my' date rather than theirs, if you see what I mean.0

Thanks girls, i shall have a look and see what i can find on the other threads. SavageHK, my dates are spot on from TTC i know exactly when i ovulated, adjusted the EDD for my shorter cycle and my scan dates amazingly agree with my dates so from that point of view we're safe to say the dates are right. I know its a week away and there's plenty of time for LO to come before induction would be likely to take place but I just dont want to be induced. its the whole casacade of interventions thing, but then would i want to risk my baby at this late stage? aaaah i dont know, i guess i dont need to decide yet as it may not come to it but i think i need to at least have an idea of what I would like to do if i'm still here next week!!
Thanks for the comments ladies, hope you are all well and smiling!0 -
