  • Mrs Bryan congratulations! So pleased for you! Does this also mean that I move up the list a place again! Lol! can't get used to not being in the 50's!

AMC hugs to you; how far gone are you? I had a couple of weeks where I wasn't sleeping well at all but over the last week or so it has got a lot better (I'm 29 weeks tomorrow). Hope that you get some good rest soon.

LMM hugs to you too - I have been very up and down throughout my whole pregnancy and have always discussed this with my midwife at each appt. She was very good and said that we would keep an eye on it because they would rather try to do something about it at this stage before baby comes along so as not to affect bonding with baby. Last time I went she suggested making an appt with the DR to talk thorugh some options, but since then I have been feeling a lot better and more positive so she is happy to let me carry on as I am.

Went for my checkup this morning - bloods have come back all fine, still waiting on GTT results though. Baby's heartbeat was good, he was a bit more chilled out today! All good and on track - don't have to go back for four weeks now.

OH and I had good chat about baby stuff last night; he is sold on the cheeky wipes idea (yay!) and has said we will give the resuable nappies a go although I don't think he was as keen on that. I am not sure why as it is not him who will be doing all the washing and drying! he did say he was a bit concerned about having to carry a poo-y nappy around if we were out for the day, but I said if it bothered him we could always take some dispoables when we know we are going to be out for a while.

Hope you're all having a good day!

so whenever one feels that there is something that needs to be checked in case you panic, do you have to wait till you see the midwife, or can you go the GP (assuming you get a quick appointment)? I guess the EPU is for early stages right? so if you need to go do you go straight to the hospital?

Hey Rups in my area the EPU is for up to 12 weeks after that it is the MW or triage assessment unit at the hospital. When I've rang the mw and no one has answered I've either phoned my GP or the triage (number is at the front of my notes but dont know if this is the case for everyone). They are basically where you go when you are in labour or if you need adivice after 12 weeks (here any way). I've phoned the Drs before and asked for the duty Dr to phone back when it hasn't been an emergancy and I've waited all day for the mw to get back to me as they tend to have appointments to see you straight away if need be. If you are worried about anything and cant get hold of your mw I would just phone the hospital for advice - I was a regular at the early pregnancy support centre and they basically encouraged it if you were worried rather than telling you off as they want you and baby to be safe.

thanks ladies. i guess i could try all the numbers i have if need be. i just wondered as you just never know who you wll need. with my GP the receptionists answer who are useless and rude so i guess the bext bet is that central number for midwives i have? so weird. thanks though.

just not dealing with the sun today. am having hot flushes on the tube and i went for a walk with my work mates and was so restless in the sun. i love the sun.:(

Rups, did your midwife not put all the contact numbers on the front of your green notes at booking in appointment? I have details for all the relevant hospital departments, plus numbers for each of my community midwives (team of 2 at my GPs) on the front page. Nearer the back of my notes (I don’t know if they’re standard) there was a box about symptoms like cramping, bleeding, pain etc, and my midwife wrote that <20 weeks I should contact GP/A&E (I assume if very bad symptoms!) and >20 weeks delivery suite. That may differ greatly from area to area, but it should have been gone through at your booking in so you know who to contact. I know it’s no help today, but make sure to ask at your next appointment what all the contact details are, in case you need them again in the future :)

Thanks dizsie. that makes sense then as on my notes, i only have the number to call and make the appointment. so if the EPU sees patients will 16 weeks, i suppose after i see my midwfie in 2 weeks time, she will hopefully give me more details? i def will ask! ok so i know that can go to the EPU just in case something comes up. better to know in a normal state than trying to find out when in some sort of trouble you know?

had a bagel for lunch with crisps and now feel sleepy.

MrsBryan congratulations, such a cute name too!

Rups Well done on passing your theory test. I've always wondered about the numbers to ring if anything were to go wrong. All I have on my notes is a mobile number for my midwife (she only works 1 day a week and turns it off the other 6, so the chances of that being useful are about zero!), and the number for the delivery suite. I guess I'd have to ring the GP if I needed anything.

LMM - I can understand your husbands worry, my DH is the same. I'm only 25 weeks, but very up and down, and easily tearful and stressed. I'm finding that not being able to do anything for myself is just leaving me so frustrated, but like you I'm hoping this will pass once baby arrives.

I'm having another rubbish day with my back, but on the plus side DH has finally got round to hoovering and dusting, so the house is slightly tidier now :)
