Awww a baby! Teddy. Cute name. Very tierd today. Slept 7 hours though so should be ok! Going to take a nap soon. I am very scared about how fast I am marching up the list. Geeps. I really need to get my hospital bags sorted.

You and me both Rebekah! I'm 13th now

I felt really unwell yesterday evening – my breathing was really shallow and I felt sick. I thought that baby had already moved down into the correct position, but perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe if he hasn't already he will soon as I'm 36+4. I think I'll ask at my midwife appointment on Thursday. Am a bit scared about the fact that I could go into labour anytime over the next few weeks ...

Feel really tired also. The alarm goes off at 6.50am as usual for work but of course now only my husband has to go. However, since I've been on leave (only the last 2 mornings) I can't get back to sleep. I managed an extra 20 mins this morning but that was it. Oh well I suppose I should just think that a lack of sleep is good preparation for the baby! Think I'll take a hot shower to wake up. Going swimming this evening and that always helps to relax me.

Many congrats to Mrs Bryan x

so whenever one feels that there is something that needs to be checked in case you panic, do you have to wait till you see the midwife, or can you go the GP (assuming you get a quick appointment)? I guess the EPU is for early stages right? so if you need to go do you go straight to the hospital?

I normally just ring my midwife Rups tell her how I'm feeling etc and she either tells me to make an appointment with GP or go to the maternity assessment unit at the hospital x
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

thanks ikkle. ok we have some sort of number for the central team of midwives. i guess could call that just in case. whenever i have called that number, no one answers (when i rang to book my 16 week appointment) and then they always call the nexy day.

  • Morning all.....just!
    Hope everyone is ok

AMC hope you're feeling better today. Maybe baby has moved, my bf has been 3/5 engaged since 35 weeks. She's due Friday :) so maybe more engaged now!

I have no clue who I would ring if I was worried. I see my consultant at the local (no inpatient services, just clinic and physio etc and no maternity) and midwife at the GP surgery. When I had my scare few months back when I couldn't believe and got taken to A&E at the nearest "proper" hospital their pregnancy unit called me the next day to follow me up so I guess there?but I've no phone number.

I've not slept well for a few nights now. Keep having very weird dreams and am restless. It's mad cos I'm so tired. OH went to work this am and put his shaver on cleaning mode so that was making odd noises  and I just dropped off to sleep and the door bell rang argh! But it was a parcel full of crafting goodies :D which are now all over the bed :rotfl: OH will be pleased haha!

Got consultant and midwife this afternoon. Got my pee sample ready. Have to do it when I remember otherwise I'm half way out the door and remember and can never wee on demand. Need to have bloods too so hoping they have someone at the clinic who can do them they have blood testing on the next floor so hope I can get them done today.

OH has got a half day so he can hear what the consultant has to say too. He wants to mention how down I seem lately. To be fair I'm crying a lot, but it's the hormones adding to it all. I've told him to speak to the midwife as she seems a bit more practical than doctors. Not really sure what they're going to say. I hope once baby's here and I can walk better and actually do stuff for myself I hope I'll be back to my cheery self. But OH is worried I think incase baby comes and I become more down. I dunno I'm just rambling really.

On a brighter note, OH might take me to babies r us tonight to look at the cot we've seen online. It's got good reviews and it's a cotbed. The sales assistant in Mothercare over the weekend sold the cotbed idea to OH. It's the shore ditch one and it's half price :):):)

I'm thinking with the panels at the ends I could paint something like baby's name or a bear in keeping with the room rather than spend a couple more hundred £££s on a cot with the I love my bear or such like on. also a nice sit down job to keep me occupied :)

Looks and feels very warm outside so must look for something to wear, and of course the hospital will be boiling. Which of course means an ice cream on the way home :)

Hugs to all that need them and labour vibes where needed xx

Mrs Bryan - congrats! Glad you had a relatively easy labour and are doing well :T

Rups - in my area you have to ask a GP to be referred to EPU, although I didn't know that and phoned EPU directly and they didn't mind. They asked me a lot of questions over the phone and then decided they can offer me a same-day scan.

    I'm no 10 now

When I got booked in I got given a list of numbers ranging from the midwives' ofice (never anyone there), to the midwife emergency batphone mobile (manned 9-5) and the out of hours service who'd pass the details on to an on-call midwife who'd call you back. Oh and the delivery suite at the hospital as well.

Course, sod's law dictates that when I started getting those regular cramping pains it was flipping Easter Sunday so no chance of the GP, batphone or whatever - so we went for the ringing delivery suite apologetically saying we weren't sure who else to ring in the middle of a bank holiday - but I was 33 weeks at that point.... that one kind of turned out to be the right decision!

Also ladies - just want to recommend a fab lady who i used to make up my cot bumpers who runs a small business called Shes Sew Unique. She is on facebook (loads of pics on there) but also has a website www.shessewunique.co.uk/ and she was really quite cheap! What I bought from her inc P&P cost less than what i would have bought in mothercare and it was all designed to my style xx

Sorry mods if i'm not allowed to post this! Didn't know if its against the rules... I don't know her personally, she was just recommended by friends :D
