Rebekka, we are both in the same situation. Found out my lil man is breech at 34 week midwife appoint and was equally upset by it. We've tried loads of different things to get him moving which hasnt yet worked. He's high up and its very unconfortable. I've got 36 week midwife appoint on tues but already know what she's going to say. Not keen on the ECV procedure at all and thinking at this point that if he doesnt move we'll just opt for cesaerian.2025 financial goals & challenges!

I've decided to start packing my hospital bag - high time as I'm 37+1! I've been looking at various websites to give me ideas of what to pack and some of them mention chocolates/goodies basket for hospital staff.
Is anyone going to take along something for the hospital staff and if yes then would you give it to them before or after your labour?
I took a big tin of biscuits in - but I'd been in there a fortnight, which isn't exactly the standard post-natal stay. Funnily the appearance of a tin of biscuits on the desk rapidly accelerated the appearance of doctors coming to sign off medication requests for a few hours...Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

With my ds1 I was induced and was in hospital for 4 days before he was born, i must have seen at least 10 different women in that time and the one who actually helped him being born was only with us for the briefest of time, she left straight after as i had a severe bleed and we then had 3 or 4 more. I couldnt even tell you what their names wereand didnt feel that any were 'outstanding' enough to warrant a thankyou gift
With our 2nd we had a lovely south african lady who stayed with us throughout, was subjected to some pretty foul language by meand stayed after her shift to see him born and have some cuddles. Much to our shame we didnt have anything to give her, and have wished time and time again that we could show her how much of an input she had on making my labour enjoyable, (we passed on our thanks + praise via another midwife but didnt ever get round to sending a gift)
I think this time round we will make sure we get the name of the midwife and send something once we have returned home, that way if we get another cow-bag we havent wasted a gift or if they are awesome we can take the time to get it right.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
I've never taken anything in for staff, I normally have about 3 bags anyway including random things to snack on (for some reason I though monkey nuts would be a great labour snack with no.1) plus you hardly see the same staff for more than 5 mins in my hospital.
Found out on weds we're having a boy. In major shock after 2 girls, but he's healthy and male so that's all good. My eldest is very excited and suggested he be named 'Towel' or 'Gruffalo'.0 -
Silly Moo Totally agree with Mishka on this one - I saw about 15 different midwives over 3 days of my drawn out labour and they ranged from being wonderful empathic caring health professionals to vile tactless, flippant nightmares who seemed clueless...
See how things pan out and if any one goes above and beyond the call of duty, get their names and tailor the gift to them.

I'm only 17 weeks. This doesn't seem entirely fair. It's ok though *looks around for other pregnant women to drag onto the thread*
oh go then, drag me in if you want. It won't affect your position on the list though, my EDD is 4th Dec. can you add me please Emsbet?
Had my 16 week midwife appointment yesterday and heard the heartbeat for the first time, the best sound in the world! I'm tearing up now just thinking about it. Pregnancy has made me soft
Hope everyone else is doing ok. I've been lurking for ages and plucking up the courage to join in0 -
Hi all, I'm 10 weeks pregnant and had my first appointment with the midwife this week. The urine sample showed a possible infection. The last square on the test stick turned from white to purple. I am waiting for the results of a urine sample to see if there is an infection. Did anyone else have this? I have no symptoms except a slight pain to my side every now and again which may indicate a water infection but i'm not sure. We have had early scans and know the pregnancy is not ectopic this time. Midwife said it is probably nothing to worry about. But I am a bit. Did anyone else have this?0

I haven't had any infections (touch wood) but I would imagine once they know what it is they will give you some antibiotics to take. Try not to worry as infections a more common in pregnant women as our immune systems are suppressed. Big ((hugs)).
