Gilly I will tell you what happened with me I left home when they were 2 mins lasting 20 secs at hosp was 7 cm nhs website says phone when 5 mins 60 secs. Tbh I thought that I left it late before going in. But thought that contractions were not long enough ! The pain was intense and knew wanted to go in. When I got there they slowed down then they picked up again.
How are you coping?0 -
With me they said when I was getting three contractions within ten minutes...
(((hugs))) Gilly! You may not be coping as well as you thought you would but you *are* coping! You're doing brilliantly hun, we're all here for you!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -

On antenatal online mw was saying that they will notice if you are able to talk normally through contractions as if you can't then they are strong etc
As for coping think that you should not even let those thoughts enter your head. Labour is hard but you will get through it and there is a big reward. Birth wise mw said her mother told her your body sends you no more pain than you can bear ( I disagreed at a certain point hence my epi)
Also mw said you don't have to deal with pains well just about coping is all you need.

So its no longer than an hour here or there?
And in the temp now, would he just sleep in a short sleeved bodysuit under a sleepsuit?
I find with sleep you are listening to his noises so dif to sleep for an hour etc you will cope though, all those bathroom trips are practise sleep deprivation nature is clever!
Re clothing they say one layer extra than you are wearing. In our house its warm enough for sleep suit but depends on temps and what blanket using. Look up what it says about checking body temp and what's normal ie hands and feet temp will be different. Its so dif to advise as it depends on your house, baby, blankets and clothing material. I am very wary of fleece making mine too hot.0 -
Thanks Ro. We don't have central heating, so just worry a bit. We have bought electric oil filled radiators that we can just plug in where needed, so will just keep an eye on the room temp display on our monitor.DFD February 2012

Understand, we do have central heating so probably sleep suit on own not enough but as I say must check his temp. We find our LO gets cold when changing even with central heating so something to think about when positioning radiators. So dif isn't it don't want them too hot or cold!!!0 -
I know!
