Hello,
I am hoping you can help me a bit this is my first post so hope if put everything you need. Purchased a LG 50PV350T TV from Currys on the 17th July 2010 on sale from £900? to £549 two days after receiving the TV I noticed it had a fault, I when back to Currys and told them the problem and asked for an exchange and was told it needed to let the TV settle in and to give it time. After 6 weeks the TV still had the problem so I looked on the internet and found others with the same problem, I contacted LG and was told that TV’s do not need to settle in and I should take it back. I contacted Currys asking if I can have the TV exchanged as I reported the fault within 7 days of receiving it. I was told that I do not have any right to exchange the TV; I can only have it repaired as I have had the TV for longer than 28 days. Discussions with Currys went on for several days and I was constantly lied to and communication broke down, so I had to Email Mr John Browett Head of DSG for help which resulted in Adam Holmes contacting me. He agreed I only have the right to have the TV repaired, I quoted The Sales of Goods Act but he still stated I can only have a repair, and he suggested sending an engineer to my house to test the TV. I agreed to this and took a day of work, but on the day no engineer came round and no tests were carried out. The next day Mr Holmes phoned telling me his engineer had tested the TV and found no fault so I only had 2 options; pay for my own test or let Curry take my TV away for testing. However both options would result in costing me even more money which I think is unreasonable.
I purchased the TV in good faith which should be free from any defect and fit for the purpose it is designed for, since my purchase I have incurred costs of over £200 and still have a faulty TV.
the first customer service chapi phoned said its a know fault with this tv Is there anything I can do

whats the fault0

its a fault on the sound, the speaker vibrat on the tv casing so you have a vibration sound most of the time0

Did you tell Mr Holmes that no engineer came out to test the problem?? I find it odd they'd say the TV was tested, when it clearly wasn't.
Chances are you'll have to let them repair it.0 -
yes i told him he then retracted his comment about reciving the results and said he must have got his wires crossed0

Then he'll have to arrange for someone else to come out and test the telly.0

why SOGA op contacted Currys with in 7 days asking for an exchange, later she was told it had a know fault[FONT="]

i did tell them about SOGA but they said because its been 28 days i can only get a repair0

did you put the complaint within 7 days in durable form to Currys or was it merely a phone call? If its the latter then you really haven't got much hope I am afraid other than letting them repair it.0

They told her to "let it settle in" lol ... I'm guessing it was a trick to let the 7 days run out. Proving this will be difficult. The OP then went back after 6 weeks as the fault was still present.
However, if you're happy with the TV, why isn't a repair suitable?0
