Love the power/suction cleaning ability and love the super long hose especially great for doing stairs.
Hate the build quality, poor quality plastic always bits breaking off!
What sort of bits, the tools , the removable bits to clear blockages , there isn't that much too them??"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

The only reason we need a new one now is because OH dropped ours down the steps outside when he was cleaning out the car and it's cracked several parts on the tumble down, it still works just not too well. We have thought about getting parts and fixing it but without knowing if there's any damage inside we don't want to risk it.
There isn't much to actually break inside. If the motor still works parts are readily available on ebay at reasonable prices."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Dyson. They claim to be a design classic but I think they're just a marketing hype classic. They're heavy, they are nasty cracky plastic, they can't deal with a bit of fringe, etc, etc. I gave mine away.
I had an old Vax that went on for donkeys' years despite falling down the cellar steps many times and I loved it but the newer ones didn't match up. I'd probably have a Miele if I could bear spending the money but actually have a Henry which I love and if it broke I'd just out and buy another. I actually think the Henry is the true design classic.
I wouldn't have any version of the Dyson even if James himself offered to come around and do my vacuuming for a year!0 -
Buy a Sebo.
Done.

Have a Dyson cylinder in the house, works ok, have had it for about 4 years never had a problem as such, but certainly dont think the suction is as good as it once was, bought a Dyson upright for the work for a member off staff who has slight arthritis in the hands and was finding it painiful using henrys, upright lasted just over a year, that was doing 5 mats and wooden floor at receptiont, use on upright was between 1 -3 times a day, reception probably slightly bigger than a average sized room0

I have quite a thick pile carpet, and i've so far used a cheapo asda vacuum cleaner, an Elctrolux and a henry. None of them were all that good at getting into the pile, but Henry is probably the best of a bad bunch. On the plus side, my OH has said if we get a Dyson, he'll hoover EVERY DAY! Bonus! I'm thinking of a Dyson ball. Anyone got one, and are they any good?!?!
Simple to use, simple to strip down and clean, fairly quiet., very well designed, last forever.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
I would not buy a Dyson vacuum, as they are expensive and not good value for money.
There are similar quality and performance vacuums available for cheaper (Vax, Panasonic, Hoover etc.) or better quality more durable brands (Miele, Sebo) for similar prices.0 -
Bought my first dyson around 3 years ago and it was great. Had to buy a new hose for it recently (under a tenner) as the old one had a burst from hoovering the stairs.
I've dismantled and gave it a really good clean twice in those 3 years.
I've also recently got another one. 2 lying in the street with different faults, was able to build one. Ideal for hoovering the fireplace and cars, I've 2 sets of filters so always have a clean set spare.0 -
