Should I Buy a Dyson?

As this is a money saving site the answer has to be no, unless you can get a second hand bargain.
Why can't they buy a new dyson with discount codes/coupons etc, then they're saving money
However, I've got a dyson, was given to me as a moving in gift... hasn't broke down, nothing has broken off. I would consider another one if it did die.. but swaying towards a robot hoover next as I hate house work!:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
I've had two dysons in the last 15 years so I think they're pretty good0

A decade ago when they were made here I'd have said yes, now they're assembled overseas forget it.
The Tesco cheap knockoff that was slated by Which in Autumn 2010, I bought it for just under 40 quid and aside from having to clean its main filter fairly often with its small brush - which you can substitute for something with more reach and bristles, or use a compressed air can to really blow it out - mine is now going into its third year and serving me well. Through the hose it's just as powerful as my Dyson ever was but lighter for cleaning the stairs.
Whenever that breaks, I'll check the prices on Henry but £40, one seventh the price of that 2002 Dyson, is hard to beat!0 -
New Dysons are NOTHING like the quality of when they were made here - end of. It's now all about marketing with Dyson.
If you want a vacuum that will last and be simply repairable when it does pack up go for a Miele. Very quiet, powerful and understated they just keep working... All together now, "Always look on the bright side of life..." :whistle:0 -
i have used dyson and another brands as well, for me it seems pretty the same, dyson is great if you have dog lol, I have golden retriever so plenty of hair on carpets:-) dyson cleans them really well. i used this dyson, was quite fine0

We've got a Miele - best vacuum we've ever had.
A chap who works in the carpet trade once told me that he'd never buy a Dyson. The reason being that when vacuuming you need to 'beat' the carpet to shake up the muck first. That means going for a vacuum with a rotating brush.
Hope that helps?0 -
I bought a Dyson DC09 from Ebay for £35 and its last me almost 2 years but is now on its last legs. Quite a bargain though for the price and i'd definately buy another 2nd hand one but wouldn't pay shop prices for new.0
