:hello:
Evening all.
My mate's just made a load of sloe gin.
There are lots of sloes left after decanting the gin. We're supposed to mash them up and get all the juice out of them but it's too much like hard work. Is there anything else we can use them for?
Any suggestions appreciated. Don't say eat them as they're horrible. _pale_

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

You could probably get rid of them at the party on the daily OS thread.
Failing that, put them in some muslin...or a pillowcase and hang them over a bucket to drip....(or something smaller if there's not many)Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

Ok, but what can we do with a few pounds of gin-impregnated sloes once they've drained? They're too firm to mash properly, so we can't really get much out of them without some sort of press, which we haven't got.
Seems a shame to throw them out...If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Take your shoes and socks off and mash them in the bath with your feet while drinking the Sloe Gin0

Someone told me once that they mixed the used sloes with melted dark chocolate and said it was delicious. I have not tried it myself.0

 This sounds like a great idea, but the sloes are still very dry. Do you think this would improve with the chocolate?
And E-lass, the stones would hurt me feet!If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Could you hit each sloe with a hammer....maybe a competition with your mate.
A bit like Splat the Rat, it might work better after a few samples of sloe gin.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I'm going to make Sloe Sherry with my left over sloes.
I found this page and bookmarked it for when I have the sloes from my gin (this week) (there are a number of useful alchohol recipes here). I haven't tried it yet but it does seem a waste to throw away the sloes.

I've used my damsons (damson gin and damson vodka) to make a boozy dessert (with yoghurt and rosehip syrup). I have tasted sloe chocolate and it is delicious.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

Well, we've had a go...
But I'm not sure it was exactly what we were after...If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Right now pick out the stones, get your shoes and socks off and off you go0
