Sloe gin - any use for the sloes?

while i was out blackberry picking i came across this. Is it sloes and if it is not what is it please,the fruit(for want of a better discription) has a stone/pip in the centre, thank you for your help0

Hi witchwoopiggy,
Those look like sloes to me. Did the bush have thorns on it? If you cut one of the berries in two and lick it it should taste sour and almost strip the saliva from your tongue. There was a thread on this very subject yesterday so I'll add your post to it later to keep the replies together.

Did the bush have sharp thorns on it? Sloes are found on Blackthorn bushes.If not you probably have either Damsons or Bullaces which are both very versatile0

Sloes are about the size of just above a 5p coin, bullaces and damsons are bigger at about just over a 10p coin size. Damsons are oval, bullaces round.
I have some wine on the go made from a mix of damsons and bullaces, and some jam mmmmm.
