Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 17th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Thick frost here again today so I need to scrape the car before I set off ths morning.
I cooked a piece of ham when I got home from work yesterday, left it to cool & I shall slice it this morning now it's cold. It should stretch to ham sarnies for hubby for work for 2 weeks & ham egg & chips one day for tea.
Well done JulieG, beautiful baby. Hugs to Molly.
The kettle is calling.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow!
Been awake for hours as the alarm across the road at the CO_op was going off, think it might have been robbed as the lights are still on! Just finishing my coffee then off to work. Chicken salad in tub, porridge oats in bag, ready to face the day. Lists left for DS and DD, hopeful, aren't I? Have a good day all!

  • It's a lovely evening here in NZ. Have made individual cottage pies for dinner (with one spare for the freezer). Just need to prepare and cook some veg.

Hester was just saying to DH that I ought to buy us a ham and use for a meal then butties. Great minds think alike.

Good Morning Hester and All Who Follow x

HH - you have my sympathy regarding the road situation. As you know Kids Dad works in your town and has been totally exasperated by the road closures etc. He comes home fuming as all his cut-throughs have been closed. Network Rail really pick their moments with all these dark nights to contend with as well as diversions etc.

Slowly getting back into my OS ways. I oversaw a tonne of washing yesterday with more today. house slowly getting back to some semblance of normality

Hope you all have a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning everyone,

Very frosty here this morning, I woke up and thought that it had snowed!

I hope the heating is better at school today, turns out that it was working, just having to work through the system! My room finally warmed up in the afternoon.

Work today and then ballet this evening, don't know if DS's rugby will be on as I would imagine that the ground is still frozen.

Nice to have you back Hester.

Hugs to all in need especially Lou, LW, Beth and Molly.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Today - Kids to relevant sch/pre sch's then 2 hours cleaning, then home to to do paid for ironing. Tea tonight jkt spuds.

Good Morning everone ,brrr its a nippy one this morning .Just looked out of the window and cars are covered in frost and it looks bleak out there.Just about to go and have a shower and I think a big bowl of porridge ( no I'm not Goldilocks:)) it should keep me warm on the school run.
Finished my Stuart Macbride's latest book last night (Birthdays for the Dead) .Its so good and well worth a read.He wrotes very gritty police stories and as he only publishes one a year I had it on order from my library before Christmas so it was brand spanking new .
I now will start my Book club book 'Blood Sisters' .
DD has got her appointment at last to have her two wisdom teeth out ,end of February, she won't be sorry when they are out as they have been giving her problems since before Christmas.
DGS Ben is doing his English GSCE this morning so fingers crossed for him,he should be o.k. as he had an A* in his course work.
Well ironing is on the agenda for this morning,(not a lot, only duvet covers and sheets)at least it will keep me warm.
Hope everyone has a good day and keeps well wrapped up.Watch out for those icy patches on the roads
    Cheers chums

BB - Jacket spuds for tea - yum. Think we'll do that too.

Last night got two loads of washing done - one almost dry in front of the fire (which has lasted over night - yipee) and the other in the TD as I don't want washing hanging around making the house colder! Another in the WM, just waiting for my bedding. Daisy dog at the vets this morning to have her stitches out so she'll no doubt feel sorry for herself later. Have no bread, cheese, fruit, veg and little milk left so might need to go shopping this afternoon.

Before then, boys have to go to school - daily battle ground! Hugs to those in need x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning to all, hard frost here, very pretty but cold and I'm on playground duty today so warm clothes for me.
Good luck to JackieO's DGS and to Adelight for their exams today, glad my days of taking those are over.
No more news on my dear Mum but the hospital she is in is very good so I know she will have the best of care. Thank-you BB for your good wishes.
Well must get off to school now, I'm taking DH's car as it has a quick clear windscreen so less scraping.
Hugs to all those who need them.
