You've only missed the cut-off date for RBS to transfer the account automatically. There's nothing to stop you opening a new account at a Scottish branch of RBS and transferring over all your direct debits etc yourself, and then closing your English RBS/soon to be Santander account.

Yes im aware ive missed the cut off, i was just thinking of opening an account with a scottish RBS and transfer any DD over.

    Thanks

Alternatively, you could open an account with an English branch of NatWest and use their switching service to transfer all the DDs and SOs for you.

I could do that yes but i was thinking of closing my natwest account

I have just rung the 0800 number and asked about the transfer deadline - apparently it has been extended (no new date given) and a form is now in the post to me to get my accounts transferred.

I was just going to post that my application despite being sent late has been accepted which is due to the extension sarah is on about.

This weekend is another 'account switching weekend' so more are being transferring over shortly.

As Chambta works for RBS, It's probable his sources are unverifiable by the public

Has anyone who has requested a transfer of their RBS account to a Scottish branch actually had the request actioned yet? Like others my request has only been acknowledged as yet. When the account is actually transferred will it have to receive a new account number as well as a new sort code. Will DDs and incoming credit details have to be changed by the customer or can RBS do this automatically? Would be grateful for any info.

Hi, yes my account has transferred last month to Scotland. Had a new account number and sort code, all DDs were changed automatically. I had to notify people that paid me, but i think they will automatically route to new account anyway.
