Apologies, this may have already been covered. Been with William and Glyns/RBS etc over 30 years. Everything works, never ever had a problem with them. I have put this off until New year, so can I stay with RBS? How would I do it? Really do not wish to move to Santander. Sorry again if duplication of an already existing thread. Thanks

You can request for your account to be transferred to a scottish branch by calling:
Call 0800 210 0214
Opening hours: 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and
10am to 4pm weekends and Bank Holidays.
Be quick though I think the cut off point for transfers is 26/01/2012.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

I take it its only available for those living in scotland or can anyone take up the offer.0 -
Which would be a Scottish branch, so why not take advantage of the service being offered that stclair has posted about?
It has been said the cut off date for requesting accounts to be transfered is 26th January but there is nothing to stop anyone opening a new account after (or before) that date.
There are also two branches in London that are not being sold- Child & Co and Drummonds- and the Holts branch in Farnborough.God save the King!

The advantages of transferring the account are:-
1) You keep the type of account you have with all of its benefits, fees, limits, etc.
2) All your online data is transferred too.
3) There is no ID or credit check.
If you open a new account you can only have a type of account currently being offered along with whatever overdraft etc. you get given. Also, you are credit checked so if your rating has nose dived a bit, you can get refused. Having opened the new account, you then have to transfer over all your standing orders and get any direct debits transferred. Then you have to recreate all your online payment data (payees etc.) on the new account.
I would go with the transfer option while you still can. :beer:0 -

Well, none of those are really bog standard RBS branches are they? I would imagine that if you qualify for an account with any of them you are more likely than not to already be with them. The number of people wanting to transfer their account from any other RBS branch in England to one of those must be insignificant, so my pointer to stclair's advice stands.0 -
I was trying to say there are alternatives to a Scottish branch and if you miss the cut off date for requesting an account to be transfered that does not have to mean you will be shackled to Santandire.
I opened a second account at a Scottish branch and also transfered my existing RBS account to Child & Co as it is useful to have a separate account for bookie transactions.God save the King!
