Also he's made a jobseekers allowance claim on our address ! What do we do ? Contact the jobcentre to let them know its false information also ?

    Thanks !

There's an 0800 benefit snitch line isn't there? Grass him up on that. The number's 0800 854 440.

    Or do it online. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_4017574

I don't know much about benefit fraud, but I assume using someone else's address without their permission counts as fraud?

You could contact CIFAS http://www.cifas.org.uk/ and ask them if there is anything they can do.

Your problem is that many of these loans are not credit checked, so that would not work for those.

The police will only act if the creditors contact them because he is not defrauding you and then probably not.

So you are just going to have to learn to take this with a pinch of salt.

There is no power on earth that will stop him taking out loans using your address for which proper checks are not done. He either does not care or possibly enjoys the prospect of your discomfort and distress. So deny him the pleasure.

How long ago was he "kicked out" half an hour or a few months ago ?
If it is a while ago consider taking out a small add in a local paper.

    LEGAL NOTICE:
    To Who concerned
    Mr XXXXX XXXXXXXXX
Is not a resident of the property 99 Anywhere Street Anywhereington
Creditors/ Lenders/ Collectors are Herby informed that any representations by Mr XXXXX XXXXXX
Claiming to be a resident of aforementioned property/ residence are fraudulent.
That the occupiers of aforementioned property request that those concerned in the affairs of Mr XXXXXX XXXXXXX
desist from harassment of the legal occupiers and desist from making inquirer's with the occupiers in to the affairs of
    Mr XXXXXXX XXXXXXXX
Notice is hereby published this date *** **** *****

Keep a copy of the full page and post photocopy's to anyone sending letters or serve them upon anyone calling at the door.
Anyone who returns after the notice is served, call the police in earshot and ask them to attend to remove a trespasser from the property.
If any court papers arrive, place them in an envelope with a copy of the notice and send them back.

Eurgh, I just bet we sound like terrible people to everyone on here.

We've tried so hard to help him, But he continually messes everyone over, We don't wan't to be chasing his problems up, We don't wan't to have the hassle of all of this on our address.

Its unfair on my other son's who pay rent, And who work, and who actually pay their bills and debts on time, Both are fed up with this to, Other family members will have nothing to do with him, Friends of ours are fed up.

He refuses to work, Claims JSA, I don't even know how he is able to claim with the amount he's made in the past 2 years, He spends all his money at the pub.

I'm not doing this to cause trouble, He has to stop taking out loans especially payday loans, He's going to create such a mess for himself, He owes at least 4 payday loan companies if not more, 3 phone contracts he's defaulted on 2 of which he made no payments at all on.

And then we get all the knocks at the door, Letters.

He hasn't lived here for 3/4 years (Which was only for a temp period of 1 and a half years), We took him in because he was homeless (Came out of a relationship), He refused to pay rent. He inherited £7000ish 8 months ago from an ex partner he was living with (They where on a mortgage 6 years ago), All of which he wasted on alcohol, Nights out, Hotels, Taxis, Food and other things within 6 months ! And we had him living here temporary for 2 months to help him get on his feet as a last chance, Which he abused completely, And refused to pay anything into the house, Wen't out drinking, So he was told to leave.

There is so much more I could go into, But I would just rather resolve this.

P/s Thanks to everyone who's replied so far ! you've all been really helpful, What a fantastic community MSE is.

Send the letters back with NOT KNOWN AT THIS ADDRESS clearly stated on them. Even better if you have the number from one of the companies ring them up and give them his actual adress.
Hes your son and should not be treating you with such little respect.
Hes also falsley claiming JSA at your adress.... This is against the law and needs reporting ASAP.

Sounds like a lot of tough love is needed.

    No, you definitely don't.

Despite all the carp, you are still trying to help him.

Thanks, I'm writing this thread on behalf of my mum, She's a single mother, and has been for the last 4 years, She's grafted every single day, To keep a roof over her head, And everyone else has paid in, she has hardly any of her wages at the end of the month to her self, She suffers from Bi-Polar Disorder ! Hence why I wrote up this topic for her, She's been sat by me the whole time panicking, But these are her words (She isn't to knowledgeable on computers !).

Thank you, Its the last thing we've wanted to do, We've tried helping him so much. He's took all of his stuff from our address, We have nothing...We've just rang our local police station, We've got to contact the creditors now, Will they issue some kind of Fraud alert on his Credit file to stop him from further obtaining credit ? Thanks for your advice so far.

It must be so difficult as a parent to contemplate what I advised and I dont underestimate that. Try looking at it as in the long run you will be helping him. This situation cant continue for his safety and wellbeing and yours. He is playing with fire and bringing your address into it.

The least of his worries are that his credit rating will be very badly effected by this, though as you will be aware this will also have huge repercussions on his future. He will struggle to get any credit, loans, a mortgage. The basics of being able to start out in life and live comfortably.

Please keep us informed of how things go. There are many knowledgeable people on here who can advise better than I. We can all offer some support though.

I hope this wont cause any offense but could your son be funding a drug addiction? It would explain his need to have access to endless cash and a reason why he cannot pay any back.

It comes across as if he is a young man who leads an extreme and wreckless life. He is now doing something which most of us wth even limited common sense or conscience would not consider. Drugs can have a devestating effect on someones ability to function and have reasoned/considered thought.

I dont want to worry you or cause you any more angst. However I feel that your son is going down a dangerous path and there may be this awful reason behind it.

Sory, nothing practical to add - just wanted to echo Fermi's comment. You all sound like thoughtul kind people who don't deserve to be in this situation.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...
