For me, the problem would be not what health problems I had if I moved there but the ones that arrive out of the blue with no warning and need very, very expensive treatment. eg I was as fit as fiddle in Nov 2010 and the following month diagnosed with a rare metastatic cancer. It's the flying fickle finger of fate that's hard to predict.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

    Indeed!

Even those with excellent health insurance in the USA would find themselves in dire straits with a cancer diagnosis.

Read Lionel Shriver's latest 'So Much for That'. Horrifying.

I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time Polly. What a treat - childminding in the sun :).
How would the medical insurance work if you decided to move there permanently? It would terrify me.

It would be OK if it wasn't for the childminding..........:rotfl:

I think if you can live in the sunshine but keep a place to stay in Britain, that's an ideal solution.
Very glad we were able to do that. So many of our friends feel trapped in spain. They have become dissillusioned, cost of living has escalated, the value of their pension has shrunk, their house has declined in value and even if they could sell they could not afford to buy what they left behind in the UK.

Oh yes, I think you should definitely keep a place in the UK, just pointing out that it can be a responsibility having two houses.
