I write cheques with ease, but increaingly wretchedly people will not take them. I cannot work paypal though...more useful these days.

My MIL, still in her 60s writes a cheque herself so rarely that her cheque is still marked £sd!

We keep tell her she should learn stuff, but she says she will rely on us.

I sold something little on Ebay this week and the buyer sent payment via paypal echeque. Which means his bank sends a cheque to paypal and I don't get paid until the echeque clears with paypal. So for a £4 item he has to wait 7 working days! I'm sure he just pressed the wrong buttons.

As it happens it suits me as I'm still not driving.

Account has been emptied too. Its a really nasty story coming out that i cannot relate now here, but it says something that we have given a key to our home to be used at any time. From the partners role i think my friend is right not to trust any of the communication in their home, and instead use ours.

Could you buy her a cheap PAYG phone? He ought not to be able to trace what she does with that, especially if she keeps it hidden so he doesn't know she's got it. But it sounds as though she needs to move out within the hour. :(

Is there any chance he will find this thread online?
Dh and i are linked in everything. I have a maiden name account for which he has all on line access info, and similarly he has two accs i am not on but can access if i want to. Our phones are one contract....cannot think wha else, but we are a team. If that broke down i cannot imagine what i would do, where i would turn for help. :(

A i just dipped strawberries in marbled cholate for him, and he has run me a bath, i think thinfs are ok for now here.

Edit: unless he decides he wants someone to be a typist as well as wife.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Oh dear! The way my quoted post has come out makes it look as though I think your poor friend's predicament is screamingly funny. Which I don't, obviously.

The school sent a group text to say the kids and teachers have arrived safely at the centre. :)
DD is upset about LNE's birthday tomorrow.

In time the birthday will be a day to celebrate. Ion the distant future when they are big people with children or grandchildren of their own it might be a day or the weekend which they always meet or phone each other to catch up.

Might be worth establishing tradition to look forward to as well as remember. E.g. Dh's mothers ashes are under a mulberry tree....her birthday means mulberries to us now....is there something LNE enjoyed that is not associated with you? A type pf cuisine, an interest...something that can become happily synonymous with the day and him...

Well, we already have a tradition of having lunch out at a pub with his parents for his birthday, but we did that on Sunday when there was no work or school. DD also likes to make a cake with candles, and visit where his ashes are buried and put flowers there.

I think what i mean ios something that will even outlast his parents, and, forgive me, but you.....:o

Edit...but i would obviously not introduce it as that. Maybe something for you to ponder and discuss with them early next may, having got some ideas in reserve...

' i was thinking, you know how lne really liked radishes? Why don't we have radiah salad on his birthday the evning after pub lunch with grand ps
