In fact, we do not have a cellar, only the secret dwarf room. And that is full now.
Did I read that right?

On the subject of cellars, my BiL found one when converting his barn. He'd been driving a digger around on top of it for days, when suddenly a small hole opened up.
Being really nosy about stuff like this, DW & I grabbed a torch and squeezed into the hole to see what was down there. It was a 'room,' 22' x 8' and under 5' high. Someone had filled half of it with rubble:
BiL's problem was that he had to keep this cellar secret from a hostile close neighbour who was doing everything possible to delay the build, and also from the council, because they'd probably want to list it, or something. We worked out it was one of a number of reservoirs, linked together in former times to supply the water to various local businesses, like bakeries and brewers.
To cut a long story short, BiL replaced the yard on top of this cellar with new reinforced concrete and built a set of access steps while doing the barn foundations. These were then hidden while inspections etc were going on. To this day, no one 'official' knows the cellar is there, but it's now drier and a good storage place for stuff that isn't too moisture-sensitive.
Hi treliac. Nice to see you here again!:wave:0 -
Hotel in Thailand is now offering massive discounts for late bookings. Having checked their cancellation policy, I just cancelled (no charge) and rebooked. It now works out at £70 a night incl breakfast which seems like amazing value to me. I've stayed in a premier inn in the middle of nowhere up north which charged more than that! Very MSE.0

Very MSE, what's the hotel called? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Yeah, but it's easier to get to than flying all the way to Thailand for a cheap deal 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0
