Doozer, surely with your relative proximity to my good self you should be able to find this delicatessen everywhere?
You'd think so seeing as we're so close but no.
The "shires" just don't generally serve it.
Now doozer is inbetween you and me so might just be close enough to the black country but I'll still bet most don't do it. Certainly most didn't when I used to live there as a lad.0 -

I don't like cake.
Would it be possible for CK to commission me a nice fruit tart instead? I find cake a bit too sweet and prefer a nice fruity pastry instead.
What?????????
Not even with custard?;)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
vivatifosi wrote: »NPs may I ask your opinion on brass fittings?
We have brass door handles, hinges, carpet grippers, the works. However I don't really like brass finish. I'd like to replace all of the handles, hinges etc with a nice white metal finish, whether chrome or something satin finish. However, we have a huge expensive full monty interlocking front door system with a very expensive lock in it. The cost to replace the whole thing would be near on £250 via a locksmith.
Would you leave the house brass, change the fittings except the front door and wait until you could afford to change that too or would you not be able to live with two colour fittings? This would only be an issue in the entrance hallway, but that has four doors including the front one.
AAARRRGGGGHHHH I hate brass, but I hate miss-matched door furniture too. What to do?? The issue isn't just £250 for the doorhandle btw, there's a lot of different costs, all ramping up together. If it was just the door furniture it wouldn't be an issue.
Will the cost outweigh the pleasure you will get from having a brass free house?
It sounds to me like it might. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

That said, any article using Steve Jones as an image of an ideal man was obviously written by a blind moron...

That is exactly the sort of question I ask before spending anything.
The BBC interviewer asked me how I avoid impulse buys in the supermarket and the question really made no sense to me, I would never think of impulse buying, I work so darn hard to earn every pound and there is always something it could be spent on (generally for thee kids or the house and when all else fails there is still the mortgage to be reduced).
However I think that makes me a really sad person.lemonjelly wrote: »Will the cost outweigh the pleasure you will get from having a brass free house?

Over the weekend I repotted my peas that had sprouted, from their trays, into bigger pots.
I planted more peas too. I guess I've had a 55% success rate with germination.
I've planted my 2nd batch of lettuce.
All 4 cucmbers have germinated.
Drum roll.......
My toms have finally shown signs of life!:j In the space of a couple of days I had 2, then another 3, & now over half have sprouted!:T
I've commandeered all the window sills, as they are still suggesting the risk of frosts, though I do want to get them back outside soon.
I've planted my 2nd batch of tomatoes, & now am just waiting for the peppers to weave their magic! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Let's see how the list suits me....
Six feet tall - not worried about height
Muscly, toned and athletic - Doesn't really bother me.
Brown eyes - I like blue eyes but brown eyes are ok too.
Short dark hair - god no, I like long hair!
Smart dress sense - hmm, I suppose so.
A beer / lager drinker - not fussed.
Non smoker - not fussed but obviously would not be able to do it in the house because of youngest and his asthma.
Wears smart jeans, shirt and a V-neck jumper - prefer nice trousers and shirt but jeans and t shirt will do me for informal stuff.
Gets ready in 17 minutes - now that would be nice!
Stylish - not worried, an individual taste is good..would certainly fit in here!
Wants a family - only an immediate one, they would be beggered if they wanted any of their own!
Earns £48,000 a year - money is only a number, not bothered how much or little they earn.
Loves shopping - god no, I abhor shopping and have already done the trailing around various shops while HE buys stuff...very boring.
Eats meat - That would be preferable.
Clean shaven - not fussed.
Smooth chest - prefer a hairy one.
Watches soaps - Not really fussed.
Enjoys watching football - no thankyou!
Drives an Audi - Audi are S**t cars....now a VW Passat or a BMW :rotfl:
Educated to degree level - not fussed
Earns more than you - not fussed but as long as they don't act the big I AM over it.
Jokes around and has a laugh - got to be better than being a misery guts.
Sensitive when you are upset - as long as they don't want to huggle you to death in the process.
Tells you he loves you only when he means it - yep.
Admits it when he looks at other women - as long as I can join in and say when I am looking at someone else without the jealous head coming in (this was the sort of relationship me and ex hubby had and it was very refreshing)
Holds a driving licence - god yes.
Can swim - most def.
Can ride a bike - not fussed.
Can change a tyre - not fussed.
Rings mum regularly - as long as it is not all the time to the point where she is dictating our lives. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
