So....are you implying you used to go out looking super up for it?!

I might try that if some sleazy old men will send champagne over. Sounds ace.

    Have a go chewy.....gave a go.

Edit, in fact having just seen a price we have been quoted i might pull some glad raga on and get to it myself. Now as superr good looking is over for me i will have no choice but to work the super up for it tactic.

Welcome to the nice people thread, you ARE welcome, but weapons and disputes are left outside this thread where we seek to find common ground and the only disagreements we have are whether mushrooms are delectable or dispicable. Unpleasantness is simply not accepted.

Well, we have had another tender package returned with the builders declining to bid.

Its made a mockery of our closing dates and frankly, going on the one price we have had back, a mockery of our plans. Six figure number for three rooms , and services. Not sure what we do now tbh, not the house thats for sure!

    Where do I start?....

So she was given a bottle of Champagne by the stewardess with compliments of the captain. She immediately thinks it is because she is beautiful. Not because the cabin crew now have iPads, can identify the high revenue streams that are on board and indulge them accordingly. The captain probably never even saw her. That tells you all you need to know.

I'd go back to the declining builders and find out why they have declined. Could it be you've missed something critical in your selection process that you need to include and reconsider? If you do have to go back out to tender, which will be a great shame, at least you can do so knowing what the issues are and selecting a slightly different audience accordingly.

If you are hot and dressed up for it, men definitely buy you drinks. I used to go out with a "friend" who was lonely all the time and then realised she kept getting free drinks with numbers and I was there as her ugly sister best friend.

(she's model material so you have to be on that scale)

I understand that, but i would have thought the easiest way to effect this is to walk up to someone and say "can i buy you a drink, sugartits?". do they actually just send drinks over whilst leering at you from a dark corner?

I might start sending pints of real ale over to birds to see what happens. "madam, the 'gentleman' over there has asked me to give you these three pints of hobgoblin".

So you asked three builders to quote, one came back with an inflated price and the other two declined to bid?

There's got to be at least a small chance that they are colluding.

    Why thank you kind sir.

But I can't accept any fewer than 6 pints.

Quite often its people who know they have no chance, but just want to win a smile, or some conversation for the evening. Sometimes its people who simply are lonely.

Sometimes its people who think they have a chance because you have arrived twenty minutes before your date. (i am notoriously early, particularly when i was in london but living out of it because you have nowhere to go between what you are doing before the date and the date' so might as well suss out the joint and find the beat olace to sit and relax, rather than window shop or race around an exhibition at breakneck speed and arrive at date flustered.)

For the record, best thing to buy is what they are already drinking.
