Getting anywhere from the Surrey side of London is ridiculously hard by road. The level of traffic is just a massive joke, you can hardly get to the supermarket let alone Essex. By train it's a different matter and e.g. You can get to Colchester from Richmond in just over an hour and a half if you time it right- it costs a tad more than £2 mind.0

I haven't used one myself, but tend to go to cnet anytime I have a free software need. They haven't failed me yet. Here's a linky to their free floorplan software options (and you'll be pleased to hear you have several, some with reviews):

I can go up, up, down, down and east a little bit but if I wanted to get to you, it would take me all day, despite the fact that it isn't really that far. My friend in Hertford might as well be in Cornwall.
There used to be a bus called the 726 that used to go on an orbital route from Heathrow to Dartford taking about three hours but only costing £2 . Its successor the X26 does about a quarter of the eway round the edge of London (Heathrow- Croydon but going very near my house) and we need more services like that.

You shouldn't have added that bit. We would have all looked at you in wonderment as though it was some mind-melding ESP trick. I don't know whether it was the snowboard impact, but something made me empty the pockets of my jeans as soon as I got in the house, putting my passport safely away in a cupboard. Maybe I have become some kind of genius as a result.0

Or just sensible.
I found mine this weekend.....obviously in the pile of junk mail on the kitchen table, ant it expires a the end of this month, so i was right. That sort of remembering of dates would have been imposible for me a few years ago :j:j0 -
Somehow anywhere inside the M25 on the South side of London is impossible to reach in a sensible time by car, North of the River and there are roads but in the south...well there be dragons.
I find excel can be used as a simple plan drawing tool. There is also google sketch-up but I find it too complicated to do simple stuff.
DG do you have any thoughts on the minimum plot width for a 3 bed detached?I think....0 -
Re god parents...
Two of mine are dead, ( the fun ones, aids and alcoholism) one had a terrible row with my mother in the last couple of years and i v. Rarely hear from her now, obviously, she feels awkward or not sure how i stand (i do not, stupid row they should both feel foolush imo) the other and i simply have v. Little in common, though we exchange pleasantries every now and again. Dh's god father...just the one, is a bit of a nutter, lives in self influcted squalor, and is always asking for stuff. The selF influcted squalor is in prime london real estate worth millions, and he also has property no one we know has seen in the cotswolds....so he could sell one and live in the other, i feel uncharitable about it.
Un like viva, i think, from my experience, the intentionally (or unintentionally really) childless can Make the best godparents (like one of my dead ones). They treat children like people, and are a window into another way of life which in itself can show children they have choices in life.
I think around four is a good number. Not too mAny to give gifts to at christmas (i forget even my own birthday so a god child isn't in with much of a chance sadly) but enough to have one available as a cover story to see a kids film or museum.0 -
A brief question for michaels. Your kids hair looks great in their pics. I used to mangae mine really well, but have noticed its had a few awkward days since we moved. I think this is because i am 'rinsing' it in my bathwater when i cannot lift a jug (only have a bath).
I recently bought a few books about curly hair from amazon and tried the 'curly girl' technique last night (main difference is using gel, which i have never, ever used before and not using frizz ease which i very, very rarely go without) and my hair is brilliant this morning.
I was wondering what your wife does with your kids' hair, and in particular if she uses shampoo, and which shampoos and conditioners she uses?
Which also makes me wonder if your son has had a hair cut yet...you said you thought he should have one sometime back.
Edit: there is an afro carribean specialist hair dressers in a nearby town so i am considering braving go in there for a hair cut. Its more likely i will cut it myself over easter though.0 -

One of the selling points to us about our area is the connections. Within reasonable reach of both a303 and m4, and v near a good train station. We can get to oxford reasonably easily a couple of times a year, and getting to lydia was a breeze. Getting to the airport on friday left me frazzled though....a ridiculous situation. I wanted to cry at one ppoint. Also, something we did not think about when moving was access to a and e and a major hospital..whilch is pretty foolish when thinking about me! We have a nurse run minor injuries unit near by which is ok, buit hospital is a bit of a journey. For a rather 'suburbanised' rural area the air ambulance gets a lot of wrk round here, and has one of the best chairity shops in the area.0
