Our milk bottles which i wanted to convert into pendant lighting might not work, though i am still going to try, if not i want converted demijohns.....but people charge a lot for cutting a hole in the bottom of a demi john! I want three opver the island, but recognise that might look a bit passe already.

Could you do it how this guy has done wine bottles:

I like the way they have been cut into slices and given the matte finish. You can see what they were and yet they look like lights in their own right.
We are still debating the corner fridge issue too. I really want it, but if anything happens to the fridge and the one company who make it go out of business then we are scuppered if we have put a pricey kitchen in around it.

Could you put a standard one into the corner and have bespoke cabinets either side (ie the side wall of the unit slides at an angle rather than the fridge). Forwards on you would get the same visual effect but with a more practical fridge. If you are able to adapt the cabinets that way, then you would only lose the triangle at the back. You could potentially then use that space to add one of those pop up electric poles that retract back into the surface but can pop up to have all kinds of electrical devices plugged in when needed. Sort of like this:

Youguys are so resoursful! Sent wine bottle link to dh who collects milk bottles. (anothe of his odd habits )

Anyone got any links for new candle attachments for old electric lights? Ours need rewiring and the candles look yuck, i would like taller slimmer ones that looked less fake. You used to be able to get flickery lights but think energy saving put paid to that. Cannot help thinking doing that ourselves would be possible rather than paying someone? Cpuld get contract electritian to safty check them.

I am also looking for a bathroom safe chandelier atm!

I think its too short. I think apex is atleast three of my dad tall? Beam must be at about ten feet? I reckon its approx half way up the full height.

Assuming your dad is around 6ft tall, then the top is 18ft ish. You can get extension poles that go to about 12 ft and with a bit of arm extension you should be able to reach, though what sort of dexterity you'd have with that type of reach I don't know. I bought a long pole like that to do my windows. It has been in the shed since and - posh alert - I hired a window cleaner instead:o.

Which ones do you love? I am wondering if those two of silver cars links will work together. I would neber have thought of john lewis tbh, but they do have some really good lighting.

My favourites are pic 1, which could be hung separately in a row. I think three or one would look better than two though. I also like the ones in a group (pic 3?) which I thought would look good on a really good double-height ceiling. Unfortunately I don't have one of those so not practical for here.
