Well having accidentally watched episode two, because in a masterful piece of scheduling C4 made the repeat follow "Proud & Prejudiced" (the joys of a religion that knows it is right focussed in Luton) The episode made sense to me.
Would I be right in thinking that episode one laid out this sort of scenario:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/history/story/2007/01/070124_hostages.shtml
or was it just a John Wayne story of American heroics and only now are we exploring the psychological undercurrents?
Presumably at this stage only we, the viewers, know that some sort of situation like this appears to have place place, though the sergeant was not exactly an impressionable 19 year old.

What I don't understand is why the CIA or Homeland security mob have invested so much time and resources into monitoring the behaviour of just another NCO with shell shock, or post traumatic stress disorder as we call it today?
I rather subscribe to the "Spy Catcher" school of incompetence and rather wonder if this is designed to let the citizens of USA sleep soundly in their beds.

Checked the ice, nowhere near set, a piece about the size of two 50p coins stacked has frozen, but not solid.... that'll be an all night job then.
Bit worried about how it'll turn out. I have so much to do and not sure how feasible driving will be... even getting into the car will be a challenge due to the "up the side, past the obstacles" route, then the car's on a serious slope.
And tomorrow I'd got a lot of jobs on that involve walking about a mile. Might have to suck it and see.
Sorry to hear about you foot, hope it's better tomorrow, it might ease once you've rested it in bed. Do you have Ibuprofen? My son was given it by A & E when he sprained his ankle playing rugby and it seemed to help.0 -

One anomaly that I always found bizarre and annoying was the OU regional offices: one in Bristol for the South West .... and another over the bridge in Cardiff for Wales. That is virtually side by side!!
I'm a big fan of the OU, having worked as a tutor. One weird thing though was that I had a student in Dorset, when most of my students were within traveling distance of Surrey. They quickly reassigned them to a more westerly centre.
Their efficiency was awesome. You sent the scripts and feedback to Milton Keynes on Monday. They checked your marking and sent it out to the students. On the Saturday you went to whichever university they'd hired for the tutorial and the students all came in with their work and your feedback!
Maybe I better wipe this post as it might liook like an advert.!There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

What did you actually do to this foot?
Have you possibly pierced the skin and infected it.0 -

Or broken something?
Pastures, if it's no better this morning, you need to get it seen by a doctor. Don't bother with a GP. I did that once when I hurt my foot, and he just looked at me and said "Well, I haven't got an X-ray machine, have I? We need to know if it's broken so go to A&E."
If it might be broken, please don't just grit your teeth and walk about on it - you could damage it further and make it take longer to heal in the long run. You do a lot of walking and you really need your feet, so get this one looked after. If you can't drive, phone for a cab. Or you could try phoning NHS direct and saying you need to get to A&E but can't get yourself there with your foot in this state - you never know they might offer you a non-emergency ambulance.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
There is an old saying. 'no foot, no horse'. It applies to people sometimes too.
Pn if you cannot drive call sibling. You did enough in recent months to fairly ask for a little help now.0 -
I thought the siblings were all hundreds of miles away and only came to Cornwall occasionally, so not lift-giving distance. But I may be wrong.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? OH has an incredibly complicated bonus formula. It's meant to be fair. This year it collapsed on itself, you can't increase turnover of sub-company X by 3% if you sell half of it off! You can't increase an areas profit if you re-invest instead of releasing the profit.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Don't think I've ever spent 260 on a meal for 4. Had such meals, but only when we've been entertained.
Biggest splurge (apart from homes, cars and kids) was our recent holiday, but that was a special occasion.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
