Dh has recieved a letter fomr parcel force saying something has arrived for him from the states and needs duty of thirty quid payable on it. We have checked with family, and a few closed friends we can think of and they have not posted anything to us.

    Thirty quid lottery? Would you......?
I'd want to go to the depot and see this parcel for myself.... to establish if I could work out from the outside if it's worth paying for.

£30 duty would indicate something of about £140 in value.... might be a clue on the packaging.

Otherwise... no, I'd not trust any such letter. Card through the door maybe... letter sounds iffy.

I'm completely preoccupied with my job interview on Monday and getting quite nervous already. I've stayed up late revising for it!! luckily I've managed to get tomorrow and Monday off work so should be able to get into a position where I'm a bit more confident.
You mean not sitting down in the small room :)

Just realised our builders have knocked off early. Skivers!
I think in the building game it's almost traditional to knock off early on a Friday ... to get down the pub.

    Pn, qyestion for you elsewhere.....

I am really pleased, now there is only half a brick wall left in the cheese room i am realising it will be a nice light room. I had thought it was going to be a little dark, but light is pouring in, and there is another window to expose plus the frnwch windows. :)

The little northfzcing garden also looks bigger, now that it is half a foot lower! We found loads of bricks undergoeund too....and i want to filter through and save the ones that are food for the house, and the damaged ones for a brick path. I really want an old worn brick path.

I did not enjoy that and I am very glad it's done.

My PI solicitor wants me to go to a meeting with her and our barrister on Wednesday, to discuss details of my claim (for myself and both kids) as financial dependants of LNE. This afternoon I have been collecting the information they want me to take to the meeting. It has involved wading through emails, bank accounts and diaries for the period 2005-9, trying to add up how much (a) money and (b) time he spent on the kids each year, and exactly what he and I had negotiated about the divorce settlement that was about to happen but didn't. Also I am being asked to estimate unknowable things - like how much he would have contributed to the cost of their weddings when they grow up. Bleugh. (I say bleugh because sometimes meh is just not strong enough!)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Isn't the answer to all those questions 'lots'!

Hopefully not too close to the bone but on the BBC was the heartbreak story of the little girl disabled for life having been hit by the 19 year old son of a millionaire driving his range rover at 70 in a 30 zone. The insurance co (so in effect us) are going to be paying out millions for this whilst the 19 yo and his family don't pay anything (beyond no doubt a higher insurance premium which I am sure they can afford) which annoys me.
    I think....

If only. They want numbers, with evidence to back them up, that I can justify in detail and on oath.

The tedium of chasing up the details is not exactly fun, but the bit that really got me down was wading through our email correspondence about the divorce settlement. They were emotionally draining negotiations at the time, and I find the bleugh emotions coming back when I have to read through the emails. Which is odd, because I can talk about his affair without being affected at all - I remember that it felt agonising, but it doesn't touch me now even when I talk or think about it.
