Well, my vicar would think that was hilarious. :rotfl:vivatifosi wrote: »Off to bed shortly, but just wanted to say Lydia's conservatory looks lovely and a great space for the Summer now it is cleared.
Thanks.
I've responded elsewhere explaining why the chairs are such a motley collection. :money:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

When I was in work the other day I had to gather information from several databases to take home and work on.
This would involve accessing the intranet, drilling down to the correct pages (many of them), using snipping tool to grab fragments of screenshots, open documents to paste the screenshots into, then identify the cost centres to pay for it, connect to the correct printer, physically go there, identify the cost centre again and print the info.
I remembered that once the US supposedly had a project to design a zero-gravity pen for working on space stations and came up with a high-tech solution that was expensive, sophisticated but buggy, while in the SU they just gave the cosmonauts pencils.
So I just thought- "stuff it" and grabbed a pencil and paper and wrote down the relevant facts from the computer screen. Felt infinitely happier and got out of there in a fraction of the time.
It's not quite lateral thinking but we need to keep remembering that simple answers aren't always stupid. :mad:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Our company is absolutely terrible for this. Projects require massive amounts of manual data collation from different places on our intranet.
It's been driving me to distraction lately. Such an incredible waste of time.
There has to be a better way.:(“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Why is there no easy way of setting up databases? If you could manage it the world would beat a path to your door.:(There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Unfortunately databases seem to be the weakpoint in all UK IT systems whether for industry, the NHS, police, you name it, it'll cost a brazillion quid, be as practical to deliver and use as porridge in a string bag and as cost-controllable as a war in Iraq. Private Eye waxes lyrical on many examples.
Why is there no easy way of setting up databases? If you could manage it the world would beat a path to your door.:(
And if you find the holy grail of a collaborative database, I would love you v v much. I am trying to organise resources at the moment and it's a nightmare0 -

It's a great urban myth but sadly is just that. Would you want broken leads, graphite dust and pencil sharpenings floating around your multi-billion Rouble space vehicle? Glad that the myth solved your problem though.
Old Granny Generali died last weekend leaving me with very equivocal feelings and I don't really know what to do about it.0 -
Oh gen. I'm sorry.0

So, last night i couldnot sleep and all that talk about lydias conservatory and rain made me think. I opened the curtains and played an app i downloaded that plays verious rain sound for 45 mins.
I went out like a light.
I feel well rested but must have done some pretty odd sleep walking. I woke up dressed, and lying on my bare matress, everything else has been stripped and half folded half heaped on the floor!
I think if i am going to sleepwalk i might close the trap door for a while!0 -
A friend sent me this overnight. I rarely like these email things, but this one made me laugh its very true.
