The richest person I ever met (a regular subject in the FT and you will definitely know the surname) has a piece of plywood resting on beer crates for a desk. Multi-billion pound deals have been worked out over that piece of plywood.

I think if I had a piece of plywood that lucky I'd still be using it too :D

It's called not paying your bills.

I'd had a couple of emails and I'd not opened them.... and that one needs actually paying each year (others all take it automatically)... and I spotted it after I'd been shut down 7 hours. I've been caught up elsewhere doing stuff for the old that's important, so eye wasn't on the ball.

Luckily I guessed my login/password and managed to get onto my host's site and paid by Paypal (not at home at the moment, so passwords not with me).... and by the time I woke up it was all working again :)

Your paying for that site:eek: I thought it was a freebie, or at least attached as a freebie to other stuff you pay for.

Its really not fair that you shoulder that bill on your own. How much is it costing?

    How is your back v?

The weather is so mild, i feel toasty! Was really hard to stay awake last night in my friend's house, it was so warm!!

Back still v bad. Absolutely no improvment since Friday. Can't wait until the post gets to the local hospital and I can get my x-ray:mad:. Does anyone know of an alternative to Codeine that doesn't make you sleep all day? I never have time off work and want to get back asap but it is very hard when my default positions are either a) laying down b) asleep or c) stoned out of my head. I'm posting at the moment because the drugs have kicked in enough to relieve the pain but not enough yet to knock me out.

It is very warm here too. Far too warm indoors, I may have to open the windows and let some of this heat out that I've been preciously saving indoors since it was minus -14.5.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I have a query/conundrum. I have this morning received an email from an American hotel confirming a booking with my correct surname. The problem is a) i have no plans of going to America so no need to book a hotel and b) is my email/credit card compromised?

I don't know if someone got lucky and guessed my name/email and then randomly used a CC number for this reservation and therefore it won't match my address or if someone has well and truly stolen my identity? :(

edit to add: just used the contact me page on the website to cancel the reservation, it's a real hotel.

Are you sure they have given a credit card? Could it be a reservation without CC? Its a pain to cancel credit cards for no reason.

Good question. When I read missk's post I assumed it was one of those e-mails that said "thank you for your reservation on card number **** **** **** 1234".

Storage unit arrives for the study. Except i thought it would arrive as a unit. Its actually self-assembly and the biggest box is about a third of the size of the finished unit. :(

In circumstances such as you have described i a s people i know have been given muscle relaxants. I keep some here....believe it or not they prescribe diazepam for this, so you get slight calm about the situation too, lol.

Once ypu know the cause and rule out anything contraindicative then an osteo is probably the fastest way to comfort.

I'd be very careful with this. Do not click any links on the email.

Hotels won't usually charge until you have checked in but they do require a card number to book with so this may not show up on your CC. Are you sure it was your actual number?. If you have confirmed that a reservation has been made in your name and CC with the hotel by other means then it sounds like identity theft and you must contact your CC company ASAP.

If you don't contact them then you could easy end up in a far more complicated situation which will cost you more time and hassle to get out of.

unfortunately any painkiller that actually works (i.e. not that rubbish nurofen carp) is going to have some serious side effects on your ability to do anything useful. codeine is an opiate, and when it gets into your system it is partly metabolised into morphine so...

i've had decent results with prescription anti-inflammatories before (and naughtily got them from someone else with a back problem without going to the doctor myself), but then your doctor would presumably have prescribed you some if he thought they would do you any good.
