That's a good definition of annoying.
She's made some fab looking chicken pakoras. Now, I've probably never had a chicken pakora in my life, but by golly I want some now http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y298/missjennipenni/P1014164.jpg
I remember fish and chip shops and pizza parlours sold it and pubs sold pints and pakoras. There was even a restaurant called Murphy's pakora bar.
It was like onion bajias but you got a sackload of them and the sauce was a spicy onion sauce whose recipe I'd die for!
It's never on the menu down here in London (except in the India Club on the strand). A friend told me all indian restaurants sell it but don't put it on the menu so you have to ask.
And before anyone asks I've never seen, tried, or met anyone who's eaten a deep-fried mars bar. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Any way, i went and waited for half an hour at the wrong station, and had left my mobile at home. Eventually found a call box.....SIXTY PENCE minimum? Crikey, i really do live under a stone don't i. Had to go back to the car to get more that the twenty p i had taken to top up the ten p that used to run out quickly.
Lucky to find a booth in this day and age. I heard that Blade Runner was made about a year before mobiles made an impact which is why there are still phone booths in that otherwise brilliant vision of the future.
For PN, and anyone else who's interested, here's a lateral thinking question. A phone company with phone booths offered unmetered cheap local calls but made its money from customers making long-distance calls.
Problem was that people making local calls hogged the booths and made the long-distance callers wait outside (or give up if they had to queue too long). So how could they limit those local calls so the profit-making long-distance callers could get
their turn.
Because of competition from other phone booth companies, they couldn't put their price up or limit the length of any calls.
They got an expert in who suggested an answer which worked -this is a real case by the way.

I saved a friend £2000 this week - thanks to MSE.

We have a favourite Kebab van. The chap is Turkish and delightful. I tailor my order for Doner kebab with a request for very little meat and more salad. He charges me half price and I accept this and give him 100% tip.
The salad is the best bit, and I kid myself it is virtuously part of my '5-a-day'. Diet food really.0 -

I'd love your van man.
That's what I want but rarely get. I've not eaten all the doner meat I've been given, ever. Up here, the salad ain't great either. I miss the soaking wet cabbage you get in London.
But I'm happy today. That was the best kebab in a very long time.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

In the past I've tried having "just kebab meat .... and chips". But it's always proven to be too much food. I do nuke the 2nd half the next day but it's simply not the same.. so, bearing in mind I can't waste it and it won't be quite as nice the next day .... it stops me having that more often.
I guess what I should be asking for is "just kebab meat ... and salad".0 -

Intriguing. Would it work if you had different phone boxes - red ones for long distance calls only and yellow for local (or maybe local and long distance)? You'd have to be pregnant with at least your second child for it to be relevant.
OK, I wasn't particularly curious about this when you first mentioned it, but I am now. Please tell all! OK, I'll have a go at guessing.... It has to be something to do with being pregnant while caring for kids - childcare for antenatal appointments, perhaps?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

And that's the magic of curry. There's no nicer curry than the refrigerated leftover that's reheated (thoroughly) the next day. And the best-kept secret is how nice it tastes at lunchtime compared with evening.:p
Heaven help me I've done without spicy food for too long - I better have some this weekend.
Oh and about the riddle,- any suggestions? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
