Ok, I have narrowed it down...

DISCLAIMER - this is my take on the clue, it may not be right.....

diving through a reef - well most of the time you dive over or round it.....unless you dive at:

Broken Rock is most probably the most well-known dive site in the South Ari Atoll. This Thila is literally a broken rock with a 2-metre wide canyon that splits the small Thila in two parts, from the west to east, giving the reef its name. This canyon is the main attraction on this wonderful submerged reef.

South Ari Atoll - Only resort that fits is LUX*, sorry guys, that's still my first guess. I know I said it before but I think the first clue was a hint....5* deLUXe, probably a trick but again, that's only my take on it.

I just entered and afterwards it popped up a message saying my entry would only be submitted after I had chosen the correct resort so maybe you can just keep guessing anyway? I chose Lux, anyone choose anything different so we can check?

    The message also says:-

The competition will run until Friday 10 February 2012 and you can submit one extra entry per day, so keep checking our Facebook Wall for clues!

So yes keep guessing and I have had the same message every day so far

  • The diving point is an interesting one.

To me it sounds like a clue to cover all bases. A bit like their earlier clues. They don't specify whether the diving is via an excursion they offer or in-house, so I don't think we can really look too deep into 'the reef' aspect -ie whether its diving through, over or round the reef. I think we're being lead to simply omit the ones where diving is not listed.

That's just my take on it though.

    What sister hotels you got?

I'm looking at the soneva and jumeraih....both have other hotels on islands but the gili and vitalli (excuse spelling) are only a boat transfer away...no sea plane...ticked all the right boxes otherwise :(

Our next clue is that the mystery resort features over 4 dining location options. Research via the usual place: http://www.destinology.co.uk/indian-ocean/maldives-hotels/ Good luck!

For this clue you'll just need to look under the dining tab, if there's less than four dining options listed (not board options), check the rooms tab to see if room service is listed, if not you can omit the hotel!

I've asked them to clarify as the original clue says OVER 4 but their follow up comment suggests 4 or more

    Here's their response
Sorry Liz yes you are quite right - our follow up comment should have read 'less than 5'. There needs to be more than 4 dining options in total.

I do understand what you are saying but I would be HUGELY surprised if diving isn't offered at them all, every single Maldivian resort I have ever looked at has a dive school, after all it's a major revenue stream for the islands.

As that is the case, I believe the clue has a bit more to it as otherwise it's not really a clue, hence why I picked up on the diving through a reef, that's actually quite unusual and not the sort of thing you would know just off the top of your head.

Obviously the majority of the clues are designed to fit a number of resorts, otherwise it would be easy :rotfl:

Right guys, I've spent time today revisiting all the clues & through process of elimination I think I've found the answer.
From the restaurant clue I whittled it down to 5 possibilities but 2 of these, the Conrad & Waldorf Astoria don't have a butler service & the Viceroy's name isn't unique so it came down to just 2 hotels, Huvafen Fushi & Niyama, both unique names & both have sister hotels, in fact they are each other's sister hotel however only the Huvafen Fushi has a private beach (I think they mean private to the room not to the hotel).
I apologise if I'm wrong but we've still got more clues to come & a few more days to enter. I'm going to select the Huvafen Fushi each day till the next clue as, if it is correct, each day will be another entry into the draw.
