I agree with Liz, having spent most of yesterday trying to whittle down the clues, and after todays clue I think it is Huvafen Fushi, Niyama doesn't specifically mention room types that have private beach access as per one of the first clues, whereas Huvafen Fushi does. I don't think people shouldn't worry too much about the mention of sea plane transfer in the T&Cs as all of the Maldivian Islands can be reached by seaplane from my understanding, it's just you ordinarily pay more for these sort of transfers whereas speedboat is a given and included in the price of the holiday. :)

    Good luck everyone!

Sorry but your understanding is factually and categorically incorrect. You cannot just get a seaplane to ANY resort as I stated previously. Seaplane schedules are tightly controlled and generally only go to resorts where speedboat transfers take over an hour. It costs a fortune to run a seaplane so they don't just let anyone hope on and off. If you decide I am making this up I suggest you give Destinology a call and ask for a seaplane transfer to Bandos or Cocoa Island.....

There were about a dozen Maldive hotel offers yesterday morning including Huvafen Fushi and One&Only.

Last night I found photos on google of the seaplane approach to Huvafen Fushi. Does this mean it should be back in the running after being added to the heap of boat transfers only and discounted? Seems like it isn't all over yet as each clue seems to drag another possibility from the pile of discounted places.

This is misleading, the seaplanes out of hulhumale fly over a number of islands, I have lots of close up pics of speedboat transfer only islands. It could also be that seaplane transfer used to run there, until 2010 seaplane transfers were offered to Meeru but now it is speedboat only so it changes fairly often.

just had a reply from Destinology & they mean private to the resort not just the rooms so both hotels still in the running. Still waiting for them to confirm whether the pic yesterday is the prize winning hotel

What a joke (aimed at destinology not you Liz), of course the beach is private to the resort?! It is on ALL resort islands, since the converging of three individual resorts to form Kuramathi as it is now known, there are NO islands with a number of hotels, 1 island = 1 hotel, that's it. There may be separate areas, as in over 18s/under 18s but no resort island shares a beach..............

Just for curiousity purposes, at what point was LUX counted out? Was it because of it not being 5* deluxe?

Sorry, not trying to be awkward, just trying to help, I spend a lot of time on the Trip Advisor Maldives forum talking to people about resorts and transfers etc so I am hoping my information will help!

My apologies, just noticed they stated under a photo that it had to be shown on THEIR website as 5* deluxe which Lux is not.

I am going back through the clues to see if there is something that gives it away. I still believe their is more to the diving clue so have been looking at sites around the two resorts.

There is a large wreck near Huvafen 'The Victory' which is famous and you can dive through it, also a canyon near by too so that was my guess for today.

I have also noticed they have categorically stated that there is no seaplane clue anywhere so it might be or might not be, maybe they should have given their T&Cs more thoughts lol

:rotfl:I am having a bit of fun trying to win a holiday, not cracking a murder investigation! Don't worry,I trust you, I don't feel the need to validate your information by calling them, I have comps to enter!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:;)

Clue today is the decider for me, my guess will be Niyama from now until close of comp. Frustrating but fun competition! If you look at google images of Niyama you get umpteen picture featuring the sun loungers and the distinctive cushions, as Iamurf pointed out. :)
