Better to spend £7.99 and do the repairs yourself: http://dysonworkshopmanuals.com/0 -

Last year i booked a service with Dyson for £65 to sort out my dc07. Dyson came to my home and replaced the belt and polished my hoover. I told them that i needed a new washable filter and was told that they were not included in the service. I could have got 2 belts off ebay for £5
This year my wife contacted dyson for a service at over £70 as the hoover wasnt picking up very well, The rollerbrush was worn out, the belt was slack , and there was a hole in the bottom pipe. The poor guy who came to service then told me that only the pipe was covered because the rest were fair wear and tear. Well i wasnt going to pay £70 for a polish and a little pipe so i told him to sling his hook.
A couple of days later i joined a buisness index website and within an hour i was emailed by a local company dysondoctors.co.uk. They came out a few days later and did the service for me for £15 and told me i needed £45 worth of parts. So for £60 i got a new rollerbrush, 2x belts, a new pipe, a new top filter and a new bottom filter and a polish.
I wont be using Dyson again, i think they have now had their day
I also fell foul of Dyson services when i called out Dyson to service my Dc25 last year, They firstly tried to charge me £75 for the service which included a new filter and a new switch. I argued the case and was reinbursed with £50 because my hoover was still covered by the 5 year warranty. Last week my son dropped the hoover and cracked the cyclone head and the red foot plate. Again i contacted Dyson , This time they wanted to charge me £141,85 to send me an engineer as the hoover would need a service and the replacement Cyclone head and foot plate were not covered on the guarantee. I contacted Dyson Doctors (named above) and they serviced the hoover and fitted a new footplate and cyclone head for £60.00. I will not use Dyson services again as Dyson doctors saved me £80.00
Dyson Doctors really are worth a look if you cant repair the machine yourself. the website is at dysondoctors.co.uk0 -
I always washed the filter in cold water, like the video shows, but today I washed the plastic filter that holds the sponge filter, using fairy liquid, and warm water, and all sorts of black gunk came out. 13 years we have had our DC05. Always washed filters, but tried this as last ditch attempt before buying another. Suction is brilliant now - as good as new.
BTW replacing the motor is a breeze. Designed to be fixed, as opposed to some other brands that are designed to be replaced.

No, your not 'allowed' but in my eyes at least, hardly the crime of the century!0 -
£80 for fitting a £20 replacement motor is though , YouTube guide and 40 minutes of your time to replace, filters about £8 a pair off eBay and 5 minutes to replace easilyEx forum ambassador
