I tried to email the buyer with this.

“Do you realise that is a dummy phone you have won? I think the listing is very unclear. Get back to me for advice if you were expecting to win a real phone, otherwise I apologise for troubling you.”

buy ebay blocked the email because I am not involved in a transaction with that member.

Anyone know a way round it? He has no items for sale so I can’t send an email from a listing.

You can contact them IIRC. I'm sure I found a way by going via different pages. ie: don't contact them directly from the item for sale page.

He still had the greyed out text about it being a dummy, easy to miss if you felt under pressure to bid.

Who's pressurising anyone to bid? and the grey is easy to spot, but the seller is a dork as why would anyone want a dummy phone in the first place to sell on.

Like as been said, shops have to fork out for dummy phones, not cheap for small traders.

Plus you you need to realise, that yes it is easy for some to spot. But some peoples monitors / LCD screen have the contrast & brightness set so low, that sometimes the white & grey merge.
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j

Try it, turn ur settings down a bit, and watch the 2 colours merge.

A lot of people dont like the bright glare of monitors
