Yes i know but all i can get on the phone is either phone exclamation mark pc or downloading do not turn off target!!!

You've bricked it I'm afraid to say. But don't panic, it's completely recoverable.

First of all, try using the recovery mode in Kies again, but try using a different USB port. Ensure that it's a USB port that's directly on the back of the PC, not through a hub or anything.

If that fails, you can flash a stock Samsung ROM yourself using ODIN, or you can take it Carphone Warehouse who should be able to fix it there and then

EDIT: Or you can look here for your nearest Samsung service centre

Hi. Sorry to hear you are having problems updating this device. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of our KIES software to see if this will resolve the issue, otherwise please try a alternative PC. The latest version of KIES is availble from https://www.samsung.com/uk/kies. Please be advised using any software to update this device other than Samsung KIES will invalidate your warranty.

I have tried this many times and no luck. I was in the middle of updating through Kies when this error happened so don't have much faith in it

Since you should still be in warranty, you're best bet is to take it to a service centre then. They should be able to fix it straight away
  • I would but it isnt a new phone :(

Problem is Mr Samsung is that KIES is a pretty rubbish product to start with .
Yes it works for many but for others their is no known reason why it fails numerous posts across the world wide web show certain fixes work for some user abut for many their is no known cure .Plus of course we have the other well known KIES problem it works but either stops or fails partway through the update leaving a bricked phone .
Samsung CS suport always trots out the same lame update KIES excuse when this problem has been their since KIES issue one .
If Samsung Kies makes you thor ask odin .

you have two things you can do
1, take it in for repair ,let them flash it
2,flash it your self with odin and get a jigg to clear the flash counter so MR Samsung do's not know about kies little brother do the flashing and if its really bricked i heard that it can get the phones into download mode too ,

i would try the first one first with it been new ,
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff
