Samsung galaxy i9000 update not updating!

Hello i have bought a Samsung galaxy i9000 which is on Eclair i have tried to update through Kies it does try to then i get a message saying usb not recognised take out battery and switch phone on again which i do but nothing else happens any ideas? I am on W7 64 bit.

If you flash the phone then you lose any warranty it may still have.

I've got the same model phone and occasionally get that error message but it clears by disconnecting and reconnecting the usb link. I'm on W7 32 bit and updated my T Mobile 'branded' phone last year without any problems.

Currently on Gingerbread 2.3.3 installed via Kies.

Lots on people moan about Kies but it has always worked ok for me.

If you want to flash it then just Google 'odin' for details.

Flashing a stock Samsung rom via Odin does not remove Samsung warranty .

I was one of them, but its much improved now. I have more trouble with Itunes now.

Just tried to use kies again and all i get is " pc failed to recognise the mobile phone " discount phone etc, which i have done many times but still nothing, any ideas?

Remove Kies
Remove Kies entries from the registry .
Go to Samsung co.uk and download latest Kies and install .
Use Samsung USB cable only no other .

Set phone to USB mass storage mode
Turn KIES of in taskbar

Connect cable and let windows find and install USB drivers .

Power phone off reboot computer .

Turn on phone turn USB debugging off
Turn on Kies connection on phone .
|Open Kies connect phone and wait for Kies to find phone .
