there "the strip at the bottom that shows internet explorer icon and volume etc" but if there isn't a yellow box with a white cross in it the virus is blocking it......(I thought it would have been black but just ran it here to be sure, sorry)

Can you access the advanced boot options and do you see the option Repair my computer?

Restart the computer.
As soon as the computer starts, begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
Do you see the option Repair your computer.


Do you have access to a flash drive.

Got to go offline for a bit.

I have an external hard drive, what do I need if for, do I need to do anything when I reboot?

No, just see if you have the option to repair your copmuter then reboot normally again.

No. not an external drive but a usb flash drive/memory stick.

Won't work. That's not how the infection blocks the tools.

yes I have just found one in the cupboard
