No, just see if you have the option to repair your copmuter then reboot normally again.

No. not an external drive but a usb flash drive/memory stick.

Also, whilst I'm offline, see if you can understand these alternative instructions.

I am happy to help whilst I am still awake/alive I have used gparted often (from a stick too). Sunnig have you got a small usb stick (more useful than the external HDD in this case)

Won't work. That's not how the infection blocks the tools.

    Which 'infection' is it?

  • yes I have one do you want me to restart the computer now?

am i just tapping the f8 key until the advanced boot option appears and selecting the option to repair my computer? Do I need to do anything else after that?

I need to go out early tomorrow, so I will have to leave you with the others for now. I don't know what waddler had in mind for F8 so I won't speculate. If you have another PC it may save time if you want to explore the options he suggested a couple of posts ago to download gparted on that pc the link is here (just save the file for now since it won't run as it is ) http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted/files/latest/download?source=files it is about 119MB . Good Luck

Ok night, but if it is a USB stick then that will suffice for the gparted, or a CD/DVD will work too. Have you got another pc you can use? may not need it but it is worthwhile asking, got to sleep going looking for a new car tomorrow so good luck.
