There is an older link on the right hand side of the screen.0 -

We have to have googlemail addresses.
Some users are able to set up @gmail.com if they get the invite.
Please note that there are links to other sites above the image that some MSE may find not pleasing aka ads. lol0 -

Use the filters and labels facility. Time spent in careful set-up of these is time saved in the long-run! You don't have to go back to the results page - there is a 'next' button that will give you the next result of your search.
I have been with Gmail for years. I keep everything (mail, calendar, pictures, etc) web based as I travel a lot and can therefore acess everything I need wherever in the world I am (you wouldn't beleive what a dump I am in right now! ). By the way, i've dumped Outlook at home (mail, calendar, reminders - the lot!) and just use Google.
Spend time going through the 'settings' (click top right) and you will see the many things that Gmail can do, including the multiple accounts. Also remember that you can give an email more than one filter i.e. my brother-n-law who is also a friend from old has the following labels applied to his incoming mail; family, friends, Paul, football. The later is because he gets all the info for our team long before most people!
Now when you set up an account you will only be offered name@gogglemail.com but as mentioned above, you can be sent email to name@gmail.com and it will still arrive ok.
I have also used the account for a bit of free online storage. I have emailed myself (as an attachment) my Favourites/Bookmarks and also some (sentimental) valuable photos. The amount of (small) space that my emailing takes up means there's plenty left for 'storage'!!
I look often but still haven't found anything that comes near to my Gmail set-up!! :T0 -
I'd love a free G-Mail account guys but it's telling me I can't use my existing google user name to log-in to G-Mail and I can't seem to locate a registration area. Basically what do I have to do to get one???? Any advise greatly appreciated. Cheers, Steve.0

Gmail is wonderful , but if your internet connection is down, you cannot access it at home. You can easily ask Gmail to forward a copy of all mails to your email client at home (eg Outlook) so you can always have access to your mail.
Also, in this way , Gmail can be the backup for Inbox and also your travel buddy.
Either way, the Google spam filter is great.
Maximise your Google empowerment by using Google Docs for free docs and spreadsheets which can be uploaded from your home computer, downloaded, opened for collaboration or posted to the web.

If you switch keyboard shortcuts on (from the Settings option) then you can use the keyboard to move from one message to the next (j and k move down and up respectively - they're UNIX shortcuts, if you're wondering).
More info on shortcuts can be found here.

One other use for GMail is as a backup site. There are a few extensions that you can install (I use this one) which makes your account into a drive on your computer - then just drag and drop files onto it.
I have a number of GMail accounts, and the only enhancement that I've asked for is the ability to split conversations into separate messages, which you can't do. Sometimes all I want to keep is the last thread in the email, but since the space is huge it's not much of a big deal.
