Do forgive me....my bad. :p :rotfl:

LOL I think it's trivial too. And slightly vain to preen and fuss over hair.

That said, it does feel really good to have a good cut and to see the curl again.

I was going to answer, 'Does my haircut influence how I feel?' with 'It influences how I feel about my hair.' but actually it's done more than that. I feel a little bit more confident somehow.

So I understand even though I'm in the 'hair is trivial' camp.

I think unless a woman is losing her hair it's really no big deal what it looks like but when it starts to fall out I can totally understand it being a very difficult issue. I'd like to think I'd be confident to walk about bald, but in fact I think I'd feel really insecure about it, so it's not as trivial as maybe I think...

going round and round and round in circles today...
Just because it says so in the Mail, doesn't make it true.

I've got ADHD. You can ask me about it but I may not remember to answer...

When I read the above the first though that occurred was, If I lost my hair, the kids would have a laugh sticking sequins to my scalp.

    Hmm.. Scalpjazzle?

I think it definitely matters more to us as individuals - I don't think others (even close family/friends) notice if you're having a bad hair day, even if you've just had your hair cut. So in that respect, if others don't notice/care, really we shouldn't be that bothered either should we. But we still are ;).

think the whole hair influencing your mood think needs to be taken into context.

i lost my hair when i went through chemo but when it started to fall out,( i had mid back length hair) i started to shed more hair than my two cats so i shaved it all off so at least then i had some sort of control over it.

The hardest part hair wise was it growing back to be honest, it was way too short to do anything, i was glad to have hair come back especially on my eye lashes but for ages it was that in between stage, but really is that the end of the world... no. Im not a teanager any more and letting my hair rule my life/mood doesnt cut it anymore, just make more effort with your outfit, play up other features, wear your hair up that sort of thing, try something different entirely, you never know what you might discover.

I don't thing my bad head days are on a par with world hunger, injustice or the shortcomings of the NHS but I do recognise that it looking and feeling better impacts on my feeling of well being and confidence and also how others interact with me. Much the same as being clean and well dressed rather than filthy or in working clothes. I'm often caught covered in mud in a track suit and my hair in a messy frizzy bun, and it doesn't send me running to hide usually, but I don't leave home/garden/yard in that state usually.

I have long very curly hair, it's often how I'm described (you know her, very curly hair, usually got a greyhound with her). Its an effort to keep tidy and I almost never straighten it. When I was single I found straight hair appealed more to many Englishman, I was approached more, and interstingly, since I went brunette Dh has mentioned a few times he prefers me blonde. Like it or not, hair impacts on how some people view us and it's not surprising with stories from birth of samson and Rapunzel and descriptions like crowning glory we should feel better when we feel good about our hair.

    In short, op, yes. :)

I hope you are well now.

I agree it's not the be all and end all, but it's very intersting that while you feel letting hair rule life and mood (and I agree wholly perspective is very important) you feel it not looking as good as you would like requires compensation from outfit etc. suggesting it really could impact if you were less balanced and proactive.

When my Mum was dying, one of the things that upset her the most was the loss of her hair. She said that people couldn't see the cancer that was eating her up inside so she could put on a 'face' about that, but her bald head was obvious to all and it made her feel less feminine and less like 'her'.

(She also had skin issues which meant wearing a wig for any length of time was impractical.)

I think we all have things that make us a little self conscious or less confident in our skin. For some it's hair, for others it may be things like acne etc. I'm not sure I would believe anyone who said they had never experienced some sort of concern over how they felt due to something in their appearance.

Hair has been a relevance for people since long ago, even Sampson got in on the act. ;)

Today my hair is ok, but I have a rash all over my chin and cheeks. Tbh, I will be staying at home today, and had planned to, but I really don't fancy seeing clients with such a rash, nor hindering it healing my putting makeup on it.
  • It could be worse!!!

I'm a ginger and have always had the ususal jibes all the way through school etc but for the past few years I have grown to LOVE my hair and i genuinly wouldnt change it for the world!!

My worst hair cut was when I was 11, imagine the picture... think bushy ginger hair, in a bowl cut, I had fixed braces at the time, was overweight and had the hugest NHS specs you have ever seen. Worse than that though...my school photo was taken a week later and the disaster been forever captured!!!

    :D
