I'm back after a LONG 3 weeks offline from moving! New house is so much better and fingers crossed most bills will remain the same and we can crack on with reducing our debt... first payment goes to CCCS next month. We used this month for token payments to cover any extra costs that go along with moving.

An increase in tax credits meant we can put more towards our debt but also add a few missing things from our budget sheet, fingers crossed we've got it cracked now.

Only hitch is that my middle son has just tested positive for Coeliac Disease... we're all being tested, and the food bill is going to rise :( CCCS have been really good and upped our food budget for now, and I hope I can still bring things in under budget, but some gluten-free things are so expensive! Will get what we can on prescription too, which will help. The other 2 children have so far tested negative, but youngest has some other flags on his blood results that indicate a food allergy, so we'll have to try and figure out which one!

I took out a DMP with Payplan 3 years ago, contacted them in October as my end date was approaching fast. My final payment was due on 01/02/2012. They finally started my end review on 30/1/12, good isn't it? 9 days later they contact me to check my interest rate with the Halifax and check how much I owe Barclays. Getting better isn't it? Message them back to ask for evidence of when they last checked with my creditors about interest and charges and 24 hours later I get a message saying they haven't, ever, not once, in 3 years!
But they are sorry and will put their complaints procedure in process and send me details. As I said in my message to them I would contact my creditors directly they asked if I was ending my plan! Are they kidding? Am waiting now for the result of the complaints procedure. I'm very kind so I will give them 28 days to sort it out but I feel they may never actually satisfy me. I feel a complaint to the FOS coming!
Had anyone else had a similar experience? Or can anyone give me advice as to how to proceed?

I put in a complaint with PayPlan last year and I have to say they do take complaints very seriously.

Also with amounts, they say they write to all creditors at the end of a DMP to ask them to write off any remaining payments/interest. Not sure on checking amounts, shouldn't creditors have sent you a yearly statement?

I to wondered about statements from your creditors. I know Payplan do a lot but I would not necessarily expect them to check on interest and charges for me - i see them more as an intermediatery.

Right, tallied up the different accounts as far as we could. Don't have a statement for how much we owe on the loan in actuality as we've had nothing from them at all.
However, one thing that's come up is by only paying just over £400 in Jan, the debt seems to have decreased by £7000! Now, I'd like to say that we're impressed by this but we're not. Somewhere down the line a mistake has been made at the CCCS end and it's saying we owe £22,450 and we don't, we owe more like £29,000. Of course, they're not open at the weekend so we can't ring them to get it sorted out. Also, for some reason the CCCS have got us owing less on the Barclaycard than we actually do, so we've changed that on the website now.
*sigh* hassle that we don't need, is this usual?

BR worry not, it doesn't really matter what the figures are with CCCS,as long as you have your accurate records and CCCS are sending out the right payments. Just make a quick phone call next week to them with the correct ammounts.

We just don;t want them sudden'y going "woah that's even more than we thought" or anything. Mind you, the starting amount in my siggy is correct, unfortunately.

  • BR, can you see the amount for each creditor listed on CCCS, can't you see where the discrepancy is and simply correct it?
  • I to wondered about statements from your creditors. I know Payplan do a lot but I would not necessarily expect them to check on interest and charges for me - i see them more as an intermediatery.

They actually told me in the message they sent that they should have contacted my creditors annually. They also said they had not negotiated any interest relief at any time which they also stated in the message they should do annually. It's also in the small print. Am not going to proceed any further with my DMP at this point. Not with Payplan. I actually feel quite depressed as its gonna cost me thousands of pounds. I actually wish I hadn't bothered now.
  • Just starting out on my DMP journey and thought I would join in with this thread (hope you dont mind).

Got a new bank account which seems to be up and running now and paid some money in just incase the direct debits switch over. Still waiting too see if my wages sucessfully go into new account at end of the month. I have changed bank details with ctc and will have to wait until March to see if that works, then just maintenance off ex and I should be all sorted.

Have received 2 letters from creditors now saying I have missed payments and to contact them immediately. Do I do this or not? They have had the letter stating I am with cccs and to go through them.

Phone calls have not been too bad, both of the above have tried to ring me but thats about it, missed the calls and they dont seem to have persisted.

How long can you wait before you start the dmp from when you first send out the letter i.e I sent mine for payments in February. I need March to make sure I get wages etc paid in and will use the money to pay loans back to family that I cant include in the dmp and I would like April to save for an emergency fund. This would mean starting first dmp payment in May.....Do you think this is acceptable or too long?

I am hoping for a stress free journey but I am banking on trouble!!:)

yeah, we've done that for the other amounts, but didn't realise there was such a difference with the starting amount for the loan and their estimate of what it should be one month later.
The website went 'woah' when we put in the correct amount for the Barclaycard (ie. twice as much as they had down) so I hate to think of the reaction to a £7,000 increase!
