  • Panic over, I managed to speak to CCCS (on the work phone :o) and they said a standing order set up can be with them the same day so our first payment goes tomorrow.

Brilliant news. You are off the starting block!

    Hi kitkat 34

I self manage my own DMP, you just have to be prepared to be very organised and 'hold your nerve' I tend to correspond with my creditors in writing but do occassionally speak to them, their aim is normally to try to get me to agree to up my payments, I stay calm, stay polite and just say no at the moment I'm not in a position to do that, eventually they give in...................I find it very empowering !!!!!

Well done to you for taking these first important steps :)

Hi BR. I'm new on this thread, but already finding the advice helpful & reassuring. I would say that if you are "prone to depression", it would be a very good idea to see your GP to find out if you need a little help over what we all know is a difficult time. People don't always understand about depression and we're all good at putting on a bold front, but your GP will know you & your history.

Ooooh! I didn't know this. Please may I be a member? Speaking to CCCS on Wednesday & having read most of your posts, I am definitely taking us down the DMP route.

Hi and welcome :))) i was in exact same posistion as u today, cccs had not set direct debit up so i had to do it over the phone.I really didnt want to wait till march! They told me about the transcash but it seemed a major faff, i ended up paying it through internet banking this afternoon as a bill payment with the account details they gave i hope this helps!! good luck to u :) xx
  • Has anyone else had any dealings with these guys?? from all our debts this is the lowest £567!! they have hassled us non stop phone calls at least 3 times a day, the account is in hubbies name so they wont deal with me! he has told them our cccs reference number and said they will be in touch. Tonight hubby got quite snotty and said look things are not gonna change everytime u ring u will be told the same, the person on the other end said until we hear from them we will be calling u everyday!! which is a waste of my time yikesss hubbie told him at least u get paid for wasting ur time where as when i answer i dont!! quite scary :eek::eek:

Thanks hon. I've spoken to a DR and they're 'keeping an eye' on me apparently. I'm also on the waiting list for counselling although I'm not holding my breath for that.

    Debt-free and Proud!
I'm feeling left out. MBNA haven't sent me a letter. In fact I owe my DMP and LBM to them because it was them putting up my minimum payment that pushed me over the edge and made me see sense! Best thing I ever did starting my DMP. I was paying them £150 a month and only a few pounds came off the balance and I did this for years. When I think of all the money I wasted in paying them interest I begin to wonder if I had left my brain on the bus. Anyway now I'm not paying them any interest and every hard earned penny is coming off the balance.

BR hang on in there it will get better.

SAAC I am in awe and admiration of your organisational skills. I can only wish that I was half as sensible as you and it makes me realise that I really need to get on top things and not just shove everything into a carrier bag! :rotfl:

Debt free date 25/11/2015 - Made It!
  • Regarding my earlier post about not being able to cancel my loan direct debit as it is the smae bank I bank with, I've just got off the phone with CCCS and they said to withdraw all my excess money and the bank will take the money from my overdraft. I will still owe them but the overdraft will go down as a debt and I will have the money to put elsewhere for my emergency fund. This brings me onto my next question.... If I am to withdraw all excess money not being used for direct debits, there is a £500 withdrawal limit per day on my card, is that £500 per day for the account, or for each card holder? (In reality we want to take £700 out.)
